Dubas needs a solid

Description
Somebody has to to do Dubas a solid, Kerfoot might have to get moved if the Leafs want a big fish but he is a Ufa next season so maybe if the Leafs sweeten a deal they can get it done...I need to move engvall as well, I think this is the only to bring in a couple real top guys but I doubt the Leafs can move both guys. I like the skill and sand paper with Anderson, Chychrun, I know Anderson is love/hate affair but I like the guy regardless of point totals, he's a hyman, bunting, domi type player the 5th-6th best forward out of 12 usually.

MTL wouldn't do this trade just because of the retained salary, maybe remove Mcmann and add a 4th on MTL's side?

Montreal wouldn't do this trade cause it sucks for them! Monty has been solid and Hughes said he sees him as a Hab for a long time. Anderson has more value to the Habs than he does on the open market. You can have Wideman for a 4th though.

That Habs trade is ridonculous, smh. A 1st for what exactly? Anderson is no better than Engvall given their production & contracts (Anderson’s is a boat anchor). Wideman & Montembault are 100% not required . Timmins looks like he could be a player (under cost control for years).

The very poignant flaw in the engvall, Anderson production comparison is all the other hockey plays like causing disruptions and creating more quality plays for your team that's where Anderson is way above engvall.

I agree Anderson brings something more to the mix than engvall (Anderson seems to torch leafs every time we play the habs), but their production is basically equal & engvall is also borderline elite defensively. Nothing happens when he is on the ice (which is frustrating to watch) but it’s also undeniably effective & valuable.
The difference between the two is not a 1st; and given Anderson’s contract (which is over priced with 5 years left grimace ), I wouldn’t go near Anderson with a 10 foot pole

Us as fans have a very different perception of Anderson than analysts and GMs. Everyone here says they would not touch Anderson and he is worthless, that MTL would have to pay to offload him. However all the reports we hear have him as a high value player who many GMs would like on their team

Doesn't matter, it still is not considered. The Habs look at the breakdown like this

Wideman for Engvall (Meh whatever)
The 1st to dump Murray
Timmins for Montembault (Montreal doesn't consider this)
That leaves Anderson for McMann (this is laughable)

Idk. Depends where Domi's trade value is. Talk surrounding him seems to be heating up and this might not be enough to get it done.

For the Leafs it's Murray for Monty, 1st for Anderson or vice versa and engvall (the dump) with mcmann for widemen

Yeah makes sense but if Domi resigns in chicago and wastes his value knowing he won't make the playoffs I really don't understand his mindset so in that case I really hope he ends up on a playoff team now and I hope it's Toronto...and with all that it means if Chicago doesn't move him they wasted an opportunity to get something out of it.

Monty is better, younger and cheaper than Murray, the Habs aren't doing that fore sure (especially since Murray is injury prone as well). Also Montreal is rebuilding so moving a younger goalie for an older one who will retire before they become contenders means he is the cap dump. Engvall at least has value to Montreal as a decent bottom 6 forward who is young enough for the rebuild.

Full disclosure I didn't know much about Monty on paper he looks like a young goalie playing well so I went off that, for me I'd gladly keep Murray just trying to sell him I think he's proving he's still very good but samsonov I think in my opinion is proving he's a starter and he's younger, Murray still only 27 I'd be willing to make him my starter considering he's proven, Montreal is a team without a real proven starter so I went off that but hopefully Monty works for them I saw him as a good guy to back up samsonov but we'll see how it goes goaltending is the hardest position to be effective in so we shall see.
