I honestly think the value of this trade was 100% fair. I believe he will extend or has something in place. Great trade for both teams in my mind.

Considering what Canucks fans have been demanding, this seems rather light.

Fans are rarely correct about player values, even when they think they are being conservative in their valuations. This is a good haul, especially if he ends up being a rental. Not sure how the Isle's work out an extension with him either. Especially when you consider how public his relationship and negotiations with VAN have been.

I know its a good package, im just saying based on what guys end up getting traded for you would think fans would expect less in future trades. I mean Fiala got the 19th pick in a weak draft and a B level prospect, yet you have fans on here demanding the moon for Meier.

I really dont get this narrative. Beauilier wasnt working and theyve been trying to move his salary for awhile. Raty is a decent prospect and a protected 1st for the premier trade chip on the market having a career year at 27 yrs of age.

Beau was going to be moved, but I think he’s one step away from being a consistently good player. Raty is an A level prospect and that 1st is still in a great draft. Horvat’s having a career year, but in no way does that mean that he continues this pace. I think he’s a 60-70 (tops) 2C. On top of that, there’s no extension in place.

I would’ve given up a 1st, low A to high B tier prospect and a late round pick at most pick

To me this is simply the Canucks starting the rebuild and sending a message to fans that are becoming jaded. There are a lot of layers here that ppl are missing.
The fans have been asking for them to blow it up for ages and now they can tank in a year where they have 4 legit superstars in the waiting with Bedard, Fantilli, Michkov and Carlsson. I'd put Will Smith and Zach Benson as very strong top line prospects as well. This is the correct move but i dont know if the execution was perfect. Raty and Beau arent much but the bigger picture here with the 1st and the commitment to rebuild is the prize for Canucks fans. Rutherford has been saying since he got in he'd put his mark on the team and the fans have been waiting and waiting..

Canucks could have gotten more but I understand the deal rn for the Canucks. Isles got a good deal but I dont really see the need but I guess it was better than doing nothing for an older team in their competition window.

Isles aren't even in a playoff position. Seems like a poor fit for them. If it were any other contender, it would make sense, but the Isles are not a contender so acquiring a pending UFA makes no sense

The first round pick will likely be much earlier than most expected. Most poeple thought he would go to contender meaning the pick will be in the 25-30 range. Instead, the Isles give up their pick and they aren't even a playoff team so the pick is probably gonna be around 15 OA. Huge difference
