Dubois' value has gone up more than dach in this case if horvat is worth a potential 13-22 pick (around what Florida will end with) a young center in attu which was seen as a top six upside and a young roster player with upside himself. Dubois is worth about that but maybe another first and we add a 3rd. 😁

Looking at your mock trade, the first is the first, barron+2nd is Raty, Dach is Beauviller. However, since I'd Say Horvat has the same value as PLD, Beauviller should be Dvorak, and the 2nd should become a 3rd.

Dach is probably worth as much as Dubois since there are no contract issues and he is 3 years younger. he is putting less points now, but I don't think there are many GMs that see Dach much less valuable than PLD right now.

No one is paying that price to get Dubois, and you know it. Everyone knows its WPG or MTL, nowhere else. MTL is more than fine in the top 6 without him. Habs won't pay much to get him, they'll just wait till FA. If he isn't available, too bad.

If Dubois says he's not resigning what's stopping a Tkachuk type situation from happening. His value is more than horvat as he's younger and can still improve. When he gets traded to LA for kings ransom it will be so fun to see all the mtl agms act like they never wanted him 😆

We are arguing about what PLD is worth, but there's two value : either he only wants to extend with MTL, or he's willing to extend with more teams.

If he only signs with MTL, his value is the same as Trouba in 2019, maybe a bit higher but not much.

If he's open to sign with many teams, then he's worth as much as Horvat.

His value is up, sure but its a little bit of a case of "Apples and oranges" though.

If Horvat was from long island and hinted last year at wanting to go home in free agency this year, then yes, exact same situation....

Assuming Dubois is in fact looking to go to MTL in free agency in a year's time, I think any team trading for him before then, won't pay the price your stating for a true rental. Equivalent of Barron and a late 1st, sure but not the above. That's just way too much for a rental.

He's worth more than horvat because he's cheaper against the cap and has more potential to continue his production rather than horvat regressing back to 60 points

Even as a rental the cost has gone up by the value set by horvat. He should get more as the pick most likely would be a 2024 first less valuable than and 2023 one basically his value is up regardless or situation being rental, only mtl or traded with extension.
