I wouldn’t want to do it unless I was confident Horvat would sign an extension and it also depends on how Vancouver views Rosen and Ostlund, and for two blue chip prospects and a ‘24 first albeit in a weaker draft year, I think it’s a strong price for both, and it’s not just a trade to push into the playoffs, but to also take the next step heading into next year.

I believe that Rosen or Ostlund will still have a tough time finding a roster spot in Buffalo down the road with all the talent the team has at forward; so I wouldn’t have a problem parting with one or both. Ostlund I think is in much higher regard than Rosen being that he’s a center, and a Vancouver wants a center with top six potential.

Schenn I have valued as a second rounder right now, and a ton of teams are interested. I know he loves Vancouver and wants to sign, but he’s still a very nice add for a playoff push and gives this team an element we don’t have have.

And thinking about what it does for the room, adding a guy like Horvat and Schenn would be huge.

Would the Sabres even need Horvat long term though? You have Thompson and Cozens as your 1 and 2C, and are gonna need to sign Dahlin/Cozens/Power soon

Agreed. Horvat will be available in july. 5 teams in league can afford him without huge sacrifices

In fairness to the OP he has Horvat signing an extension...the 2nd for Schenn is a standard for a rental at the TDL. Losing Rosen isn't a disaster bc of all the forwards in the system. If Ostlund is included so what, Horvat saws that off so really all that is given up is the 1st.
