I'd like the Devils to do a deal for Garland in the offseason but barring 2+ significant injuries to the forwards corps I see no point in trading for Garland ahead of the playoffs.
Dermott probably isn't a need either, haven't really kept tabs on his level of play this year but I think it'd be unlikely that he'd be an upgrade over Brendan Smith or Nikita Okhotiuk.

Washington already has 4 quality centers (and Eller) so adding another center and another forward to a team already heavy with forwards would be foolish, especially if that costs them one of their best forward prospects, their best defensive prospect, and a 1st.

The value is fairly even but as fund as it would be, the devils don't need another undersized center. Boeser may make a little more sense.

Yeah Washington isn’t giving up that load for a UFA center when we currently have 5 solid center + 2 really good ones in the AHL. Waste of assets and addresses none of our needs.
