VAN
  1. Carlo, Brandon
  2. Lysell, Fabian
  3. Reilly, Mike
Détails additionnels:
Elliotte Friedman mentioned that a team was willing to give up three players for Bo Horvat, including their top prospect. B's give a up first round equivalent in Brandon Carlo, top prospect in Fabian Lysell, and an NHL caliber player (cap dump) in Mike Reilly. This opens up almost 8 million to re-sign Horvat for 8 years at $8 million.
BOS
  1. Horvat, Bo
Détails additionnels:
A Horvat trade would require Boston to give up at least their first-round, a top prospect, and an NHL-caliber player, but it would be worth it if he proves to be the final piece of the puzzle.

VAN
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (TBL)
TBL
  1. Schenn, Luke
Détails additionnels:
Could see Schenn for Foote or a straight up second round pick. The talk around some defensemen like Edmundson and Chiarot is mind boggling when compared to a steady, cheap guy like Schenn who puts up nearly identical numbers and minutes.

Agreed. I see a lot of Carlo trades on here, but it's the equivalent of digging a big hole to fill another (much smaller) hole.

Boston wouldn't include Lysell last year in talks for Miller, and that's when they needed a center. Can't see them moving Lysell this year considering they don't need a center.

Carlo isn't getting moved. He's a stud shutdown RHD that's on a good contract for multiple years. Boston has no one to replace him and would be making a hole at RD. Management so likes Carlo a lot and has him wearing an "A" for the team.

If you look at the strengths and weaknesses of the bruins, where they have depth, and where they don’t, one thing becomes very clear:

Adding Horvat at the expense of Carlo makes the boston bruins a worse team.

There is no scenario, barring major injuries, where trading for horvat makes sense for the Boston bruins.

More Nuckleheads.

Simply no.

Boston does not have the ability to re-sign both Bo and Pasta. They are going to have move multiple players just to sign Pasta and fill out the rest of the team.

Give it up. It’s not happening.

The Boston front office knows this even if you guys don’t.

This move also hurts Boston more than it helps. It creates a big hole to fix nothing.

What part of the Bruins needing to sign 12 players plus lose 4.5m in performance bonuses to both Bergeron and Krejci don't people understand, Even if Boston moved both Carlo and Lysell which i doubt Sweeney would. it doesn't mean the Bs can just offer Horvat 8x8 when they have other pressing issues to address plus giving Pasta anywhere from $11,000,000 to $12,000,000 per just isn't going to work it's pure fantasy.

Here is the breakdown.

Boston currently has 62.8m committed to 14 players next year.

Add 4.5 bonus overages that becomes 67.3

Take out Carlo and Reilly. 60.1 for 12 players.

Sign Pasta and Bo for 19m. 79.1 for 14.

Freddy and Sway for 4m 83.1 for 16.

400k left for 7 slots. 🙄

Nuckheads need to stop doing meth and start doing math.

Day 164 of Horvat being traded to the Bruins when it absolutely makes no sense.

Boston is a Cup contender, why would they trade an every day player getting 19 minutes a night like Carlo for a guy in Horvat who realistically only upgrades them at 3C (Bergeron-Krejci-Coyle-Nosek becomes Bergeron-Horvat-Krejci-Coyle, I'd assume). Meanwhile, the next men up at RD from the Bruins' AHL team are Anton Stralman and Connor Carrick - a major downgrade from Carlo.

Repeat after me: Contenders aren't going to trade top-6 forwards or top-4 defenders at the deadline. The trick to winning a Cup is adding depth, not taking it away - look at the deadline moves Colorado made last year, or the moves that Tampa made at the deadline the years they won the Cup - do you see them sending out any players from their NHL roster, or do you seem them sending out picks & prospects to add to their NHL level depth?
