I don’t think this is a good move for Toronto long term.

Or short term. Sandin has been really good this year

I didn’t want to get ripped for saying that lol. Capfriendly users don’t seem to be huge fans of keeping young talent. Especially if you can trade that for a rental.

Unless Severson has this unknown love for the leafs why does he sign that?

I’m a big Sandin fan, so I don’t think this would be a necessarily bad move for NJ… just seems unlikely to me, and like a bad move for Toronto

Some people on here will forever think TO has terrible defence and any and all RD are huge upgrades.

I think Reilly is overpaid, but now that Muzzin is gone they don’t have any serious issues

But we're moving on from Sevs because of the pipeline
Why does that change with Sandin?
I'm fine with him just wondering how that changes

It likely doesn't change anything. I think what he was getting at is that Sanding likely holds more value in the eyes of the league (maybe), which can be flipped for assets in other areas.

Sandin won't cost as much and is a controlled asset. It's lose Sevo for nothing at the end of the season or have a young, nearly as good replacement now and in the future. We can always trade Sandin or another D prospect later if it becomes too crowded.

Rielly is terrific, he gets railroaded because he's a leaf

I just don’t think he’s worth more than a guy like Weegar or Lindholm is.

It’s easy when you play with Nylander, Marner, Tavares and Mathews….

Also he’s not half the defender any of those guys r.

I'd love a Sandin for Severson swap.
The only gripe I have with it is that all three of Bahl, Okhotiuk and Walsh would have to be traded or lost on waivers next season, given your suggested 23/24 D corps.
I'd probably lean towards keeping Nemec in the AHL for at least one more year and let one of Bahl, Okhotiuk and Walsh compete for that last spot on the 3rd pair instead.

That's a pretty good problem to have. All three of them are great trade assets that could get us Meier or whoever, and Walsh or Bahl could probably fetch a 2nd straight up. We could also do a prospect swap for a center, as our center pool is pretty dry. Ideally I'd do something like Bahl in a package for a top 6 winger, Okhotiuk in a small package for Henrique, and Walsh for a 2nd.

yeah but you still have to move them before next season starts
id hate it if all those years of development just ended up in a waiver claim
