Dumba has more value than just a 3rd. Eller to Edmonton doesn't seem like a fit.

I'm curious as to why? He would be an upgrade to Ryan Mcleod.

Is it because it wouldn't be a big enough upgrade?

If Dumba isn't pulling a 1st, then he isn't being traded.

He’s not an upgrade at this point. McLeod is criminally underrated imo. Eller makes too much to fit in regardless.

I’m sorry but what is Dumba doing that warrants a first round pick as the return?

Because he actually plays d. You don't watch wild, just because he doesn't score often like he used to doesn't mean he's a bad d. Dumba will easily get a 1st and MIN is in playoffs spot, they aren't trading him and make their team worse unless it's a 1st. You see worse players got 1st

I’d retain $3M and send him to a team like Toronto for a 1st.

If all you’re offering is a 3rd, I’d rather keep him and just let him walk at the end of the year. Him playing for us down the stretch and into the playoffs is more valuable than a 2nd or 3rd.

I don't think Brady is far off by looking at the numbers. I'll give you a bit of a summary since I don't watch every Caps game so I wouldn't be informed in making a trade with them either.

Dumba was taken off the PP because Addison has been incredible and Spurgeon our captain runs the other PP. So his points are down for that reason. His defensive play has been better this year which has been his biggest knock. He's been playing with random partners as Brodin has been injured quite a bit this year. I think the Wild want a 1st or a high prospect they like. It all comes down to what is offered. If the Wild are a playoff team and no one pays what BG is after, they keep him and let him walk. We don't have a replacement for him this year so if we keep winning we most likely keep Dumba.

Brodin missed a half dozen games. It's not like Brodin has only played a half dozen games and they've had mix and match pairs all year. They started out the year mixing the pairs a bit. Dumba spent about as much time trying to play with Middleton while Brodin and Spurgeon were together as Brodin was out. Plus, IIRC, Dumba also got demoted to the 3rd pair for a bit earlier in the year. Trying to frame it as being a Brodin injury issue seems pretty disengenuous IMO.

As for no replacement this year, Guerin seems pretty confident Faber will be able to step right in once the Gophers are done .

If Chiarot pulls 1st+4th+prospect. Surely Dumba can pull a 1st at the TDL.

Exactly, if Gavrikov is supposedly worth a 1st this TDL. So is Dumba then, he's been better then Gavrikov this year plus the last 3 combined.

Especially if he comes retained.

Been on vacation here but I'm still correct in saying we have no replacement for Dumba this year. Unless Faber signs before the deadline, he won't be playing in the playoffs. And the Gophers have a real shot at the Frozen Four this year so I don't see him leaving early which goes back to me saying "no replacement for this year." Dumba won't be back here after this year. We aren't going to resign him even if he takes a massive pay cut. So next year Addison, Faber and Spurgeon will most likely be playing on the right side.

Brodin/Spurgeon was tried in the preseason and abandoned before the start of the regular season. It's been Middleton/Spurgeon playing 15 mins a night as the 2nd pair since G2 of the season (Goli/Spurgeon was G1).
Brodin/Dumba started the season together (both stunk).
Merrill/Dumba and Brodin/Addison pairs were tried for a few games when Merrill got healthy, both pairs were o-zone blackholes.
Back to Brodin/Dumba until Brodin gets hurt.
Goli/Dumba was the top pair (5v5 ToI; which still seems odd to me) until Brodin got healthy.
Back to Brodin/Dumba.

Middleton/Dumba have a little time (54 mins 5v5) together, but it's mostly due to them being together on the PK (31 mins) and a shift or 2 due to game situations: late game, jumped pairs due to penalties or special teams, etc.

Faber is on MN's reserve list. so he can sign the 2 days before the Playoffs and still play in the Playoffs (McAvoy).

He could sign in the middle of the playoffs and still play if we wanted. That's what Makar did in 2019. His first pro game was game 3 of Colorado's series against Calgary.
