With what cap space next year?

It's also been reported that we don't have any interest in Boeser.

The Jets would love Garland at that price I think.

Colorado isn't giving up Newhook for a pure rental in Bo Horvat, And Colorado doesn't have the cap space to sign him long term.

UFA Dumba for two years of Brock Boeser makes no sense, Vancouver is looking for RD help but much younger than a 28 year old Dumba.

Zaitsev already blocked a trade to a team, And supposedly that team was Vancouver.

I'd imagine that Conor Garland would get a better return than that. But perhaps i'm wrong and that's a fair offer.

Avs aren't going to be interested in spending major assets on rentals. Horvat is a good player but it would be unwise to give that much up for a guy they can't re-sign.

I opened this link thinking, "I swear, if that Ottawa trade is a Myers one..." and lo and behold.

Ottawa STILL has no interest in taking on a more expensive awful defenceman.

So Horvat returns a king’s ransom more than Giroux and COL throws out all reason? Sure.

Thank Alfie for Zaitsev NTC! That bailed out Dorion if he was going to make a stupid trade

But apparently Dorion tried to make this trade. Although we don't know all the details, we probably dodged a bullet here!

And?

What part of 2 extra years on Boeser's contract provides value to him in a cap strapped league that CANNOT afford his Cap Hit? Let alone in Minnesota where his cap hit would cost us the ability to resign both Boldy and Addison as RFA's.

Dumba's value in this trade alone supersedes that of Boeser's by simple virtue of the fact that he IS AN UFA after this year. Which LITERALLY GIVES VANCOUVER THE CAP SPACE NECESSARY TO RESIGN HORVAT THIS OFFSEASON.

The idea that Vancouver turns this down for a player they WANT to move for a player that fulfills a much bigger need THIS YEAR while also gaining the much needed cap space it desires at the end of the day to resign Horvat is EXACTLY the type of trade they'd be looking for.

I believe there was a deal based around Zaitsev for Myers, And Zaitsev shot it down. But i could be wrong. At least that was the rumbling going around.

Fine there's already been talk that Guerin doesn't have any interest in Boeser, For the very reasons you just spelled out.

Maybe it was just some twisted rumors but I am grateful for anything that prevents Dorion from doing anything

I know, which I'm incredibly grateful for. It's nice to know Guerin isn't that stupid.

But frankly, he doesn't like how Boeser plays the game, which is why he doesn't want him. It's been made pretty clear he wouldn't want him even if he came retained. Which I'd actually disagree with. I think a retained Boeser would be worth a shot, even if it required a third party to do the retaining.

However, my irritation is in the continued thought or idea by Canucks fans that Rutherford/Allvin would turn down a straight up swap of both players if it was ever presented. Especially in this current trade market. Because it's literally everything they're looking for in a trade of Boeser right now.

Canucks fans hate and dislike of Dumba is clouding everything whenever it's proposed and dismiss it out of hand arbitrarily because of those feelings. Instead of using sound logic and well thought out reasoning to consider what it would actually mean in terms of positives for the Canucks and their perspectives.
