Demko's contract tells me the Sabres wouldn't do that deal. He's owed more in actual Salary than him 5m cap hit, plus he has another bonus do next year I believe. And highly doubt Levi would even be considered by Adams maybe Portillo.

Was gonna say that VAN fans will want more for Demko, but it looks like a few have already chimed in
Problem with getting him is that they’ll likely want last year’s value for him (at least their fans on here seem to) even though he’s been brutal this year
I don’t see the Sabres (or any team) giving last year’s value for him though- so Demko probably doesn’t get moved

Borgen is a 3rd pair defenseman. Portillo is too good of a prospect to give up for that imo

The Chychrun trade is ridiculous though- yikes
You’re giving up ALL THAT for a guy you’re gonna have on the 3rd pair? I just don’t see how that makes sense
And i don’t see how we pay him & Power & Dahlin long term

I'd accept the following from Buffalo for Demko
VAN gives: Demko, OEL(1.4M retained), '23 NYR 4th
BUF gives: Samuelsson, UPL, '24 VGK 2nd, '24 PHI 2nd(Conditional: If OEL scores more than 35 pts in the 23-24 season, the pick is upgraded to a '24 1st), 24' 3rd

I think that's a lot to give up for chychrun, probably too much for what our needs are. Also, would like to point out that- if you offer next year's first, and then top 5 protect it, there's a chance that they won't be getting a first until 2025. That has to affect the value in a bad way for the gm receiving that future pick.

-Vancouver doesn't take that deal. They might think about if it if you offer them Levi, I guess, but Mittelstadt doesn't offer a ton of upside for them, the 2nd is probably a pick in the 45-50 range (so not super sexy), and though Demko has been rough this year, there's 136 games prior to this season of him being a solid goalie (.912 SV%, 2.84 GAA). Vancouver's not just gonna cut bait on a younger goalie signed somewhat affordably for 3 more years after this one after 15 bad games.

-Why are you adding a pretty good goalie prospect to a swap of bottom-pair D? It's not like Buffalo is desperate to save cap or anything - and even if you want Bryson off your team, just bury him and eat the $700K penalty instead - this is just too much to give up for a trade that doesn't really make Buffalo better in really any way.

-This is a ton to give up for a guy that doesn't fill a strong hole in your roster. You've got Owen Power basically pencilled in for the next decade at LD1; you just signed Mattias Samuelsson to a 7 year extension with a $4.3M cap hit - typically the price you lock in a second-pair guy in at. On the right side, you've got Rasmus Dahlin as another past 1OA guy presumably locked in long-term when he's finally extension eligible. At *best* read you're putting Chych in at RD2, on his offhand, for the rest of his term. This is wayyyyy more than any team should be giving up for a second pair D.

I would imagine that his play the last 2 years outweighs his bad 15 games this season…

We just signed Samuelsson to a long term deal- Very unlikely we’re moving him

OEL, at his Cap hit, just doesn’t have value at this point
We might be pursuaded to take his contract off your hands, but it’s expensive & long for a guy his age who seems to be declining- he’s not a guy we’d actually “want”

I’d counter your offer with:
UPL (or Portillo) & a 2nd (no conditions)
for
Demko & OEL (if u guys insist on getting him off your books)

It’s way too much for Chychrun, especially since he’s got him on the 3rd pair

Adams wanted to trade for Gibson this summer and you can see his contract, he was probably not afraid of termand money. So in theory Demko fits us, then we didn't have to rush Levi, who could go to the NHL, in 2-3 years. Portillo can easily leave if he wants to, I'm not even sure he'll sign even if we don't trade for Demko or someone like that. We need proven starter and we can't wait too long and bet on just one Levi, let alone rush him.

Chychrun will definitely be in the top 4, he will not even agree to an trade if he finds out that he will play in the third pair here.

Understand, I just don't think they will pay the extra bonus money at this point. They had a chance to see some guys that maybe could have helped and it would have only cost some money and a bag of pucks and didn't want to do it.

While the trade in this AGM is bad, the trade you are proposing is downright hilarious. Just utter rubbish.
