I like this one. I think someone like Anderson will make OTT harder to play against. And Zaitsev might be able to pick his game up and stabilise the MTL defence. Either way down the road MTL have more cap flexibility.

I've just read a rumor that OTT might have an interest in Anderson and I was curious to see what a potential trade could look like.

Hell no you couldn't pay us to take a 3rd liner making $5m for the next 5 years. LET ALONE add Lassi

Tkachuk 8.2mil
Giroux 6.5mil
Debrincat 6.4mil
Batherson 4.9mil

All of those players dominate Anderson. He wouldn't sniff Ottawa's top 6, maybe if the Habs were retaining 50% that deal might make sense, but there's no world where adding a 5.5mil 3rd line winger is a good idea for Ottawa.

Josh Anderson, the most overrated overpaid bottom sixer in the league.

I don't understand it. There's a lot of other cheaper big bodies to go around. Anderson isn't that good.

Although Anderson can still play, he's a bigger cap dump than Zaitsev.

Paying Anderson 5.5 million until 2027 so he can play on the 3rd line doesn't make any sense at all for Ottawa.

If it was instead a player that actually filled a need for us, you might have something.

Ottawa declines.

Try again.

Most habs players are disliked on this website because of how the fanbase overrates them. Generally habs players are the most overrated on this website.
Wearing a habs sweater doesn't make a player more valuable.

We might have an interest if salary retention on Anderson was set at 50%.

But that wouldn't be fair.

I would be surprised if Kent Hughes accepts to retain 50% for almost 5 years.

Here's the article where I saw Anderson linked to Ottawa: https://montrealhockeynow.com/2022/12/03/canadiens-senators-linked-on-nhl-trade-market-rumours-anderson/

If Dorion & al were not in Montreal for Anderson, who else would be of interest for the Sens -- Dvorak? Edmundson? Monahan?

We need a Top 4 RD more than anything.

The closest that Montreal currently has to a Top 4 RD is David Savard.

A trade involving Zaitsev/Savard would be more interesting for Ottawa than one involving Zaitsev/Anderson.

The price for a Zaitsev/Savard swap would be much more expensive though

That can be true, but it's also true that the Habs management will not trade Anderson for only a 2nd round pick.

They apparently asked a 2023 1st round pick minimaly, and few teams (like EDM , CGY & NJD) have somes serious interrested on Anderson and they are extremely ready to pay that price, maybe more (and that's not from me, that's from bests reporters and insiders of the North American hockey world).

That's why he have a big value, and that's why somes Habs fans makes somes A-GM who including sometimes ''delusional assets''.

I'm sorry you seem to have forgotten to add the assets that go along with the Anderson to the Sens in exchange for taking on his anchor contract that he's not remotely worth

Thomson and a 2nd for Anderson making 5.5 AAV for 4 more years is a NO GO

Wideman will never play for Ottawa again

Zaitsev is a very easy buyout next offseason (like Del Zotto last year)

That's when the Sens scouts were in Montreal for a meeting.

The good news for Sens fans is that Dorion might not be allowed to make more moves as a team sale is imminent

Yeah I almost glossed over that part - I can't see a world where Ottawa willingly brings Wideman back. I *do* think he was unfairly scapegoated in that whole incident, but yeah, I think both sides would just as well leave that alone.
