Didn't the Stars give up a first for him LOL. If the Leafs some how get a first for Robertson, they should do it

We've been through this. Any piece that might realistically be of interest to the Leafs would be a non-starter for Dallas. I joked on a previous post that it would take Ottinger because there's no way Nick to Dallas works unless there's a third team involved and it's part of a massive deal.

Even if Robertson only plays on occasion (a whole other issue) what's more valuable to the Leafs than very cheap secondary scoring? Leafs don't care about futures, and Dallas is not going to give up a core part of their team.

Go find a third team and we'll talk.

You'd have to take Kerfoot too and send back Hakanpaa, Gurianov, and picks or a prospect

The only player I have interest in is Ty Dellandrea but I doubt he's available

Any interest in Thomas Harley? Both players are in nearly identical circumstances. Both should be playing NHL minutes right now, but are simply buried on the depth chart behind people that are either playing very well right now, making too much money to bench, or have clauses in their contract that prevent them from being moved (*cough cough* Ryan Suter)

With Toronto's injuries to Brodie, Benn, Muzzin, and Rielly, Harley could probably slot into the lineup over someone like Victor Mete on day 1.

I agree with User_Name_19. Robertson would be tradebait for a player who can fill the top 6 role (top 6/middle 6 player) or a top 4 D if Dubas finds that they need to add to the D-core. The player they get would need to have some term most likely.

Probably the best post I’ve seen in a while. Addressing needs on both sides. From the Leafs perspective I immediately say yes. Even if Harley stays in the AHL he would be good depth for both the Leafs and Marlies. The leafs have enough undersized skilled forwards in their system.

SMH that' would be utterly stupid if you are Jim Nil. WTF wouldn't Nil laugh Hysterically at Dubas before hanging up with that proposal?

We already have way too many LHDs (Rielly, Sandin, Gio) but it would have to be a development project until Gio retires

I mean the question wasn't does this trade makes sense, the question was what would be going back. if one sides wants a certain player and the other side wants to keep him the trade either doesn't happen or you overpay. the trade doesn't make sense if you're Dallas but if you're toronto, you don't care

So, you don't think they should trade him because he isn't getting that return ok. Fair enough.

The premise of this post is Toronto is shopping him . So now if as it is reportedly rumored to be the case what's his realistic return?

They either move him for another waiver exempt player (who isn't expecting to play in the NHL) with similar upside that could fill a need in the future or they deal him in a package for a player or as stated below:

I think he only gets moved if you can get a top 6 forward or a top 4 dman. Probably just part of a package
