I'm saying you have to look at certain advanced stats and compare them with other stats like TOI, Linemates, Line Role ETC. There's more than just those numbers.
I agree. Like i told him, advanced stats don't show things like toughness, physical play, leadership, speed and many other atributes.
He's the one who think those jfresh advanced stats shows everything. He only look at those when evaluating players. I don't.
It's because they have a lot of fans though. Per capita I think the Red Wings and the Hurricanes are up there. Especially the Canes fans when you mention Kotkaniemi.

Physicality, and toughness doesn't put goals on the board, and doesn't prevent them. You can be be as physical all you want, but that physicality actually has to lead to something. At the end of the day, you can have all the skills in the world, but if you don't use them to your advantage, what is the point? Sure Anderson is big and fast but clearly that doesn't mean much because he isn't producing, and he is bad defensively.

On a line with 2 skilled, but small players, physicality and toughness from the 3rd forward will create space for the 2 others, helping them put goals on the board.
And as we already discussed, Anderson is most of the time on pace for 25 goals, and he's fast enough to play with skilled players.
It's not like he can't bring anything more than toughness. I agree he's kinda bad defensively. Not terrible, but not good.
I feel bad for Oilers fans for having to deal with Bourgault and 1st for Monahan or Anderson
Monahan and Edmundson, on the rental TDL market, are each worth one of Bourgault or a 1st.
The thing with Anderson is if they trade him to a team like Edmonton for a low return and he start scoring 30+ goals with McDavid, MTL is gonna look bad
I think they'd rather wait a few years when the cap increase to get a decent return.

2 players with negative WAR and xWAR are worth Bourgault or a first? Why would the Edmonton Oilers pay good assets to get meh players who really don't make the team much better?
I see them saying Tyson Barrie and Jesse Puljujarvi are very valuable assets
I remember people saying Puljujarvi was gonna be the next Nichushkin in the summer and everybody was dying for the chance to swindle Holland because he was to stupid to know what he had in him and now a 3rd to much for Puljujarvi to some people
Some Oilers fans just look at Barrie's offensive game and I usually judge how I value another Oilers fan opinion on what they trade Barrie for

Trade deadline market value. If you still think WAR and advanced stats are the only thing GMs look at, that's on you.

Anderson doesn't produce. Monahan has been better this season, but has been really bad the last 3 years. GMs will look at that. Sure there will be interest, but don't expect a first ++ for each
Edit: Monahan and Anderson are also both very expensive and overpaid. They would require retention as no contender has the cap space to take 5+ million dollars

Oilers don't need Monohon (last thing we need is a center) or Anderson (we already have a power forward who is miles better in Kane, and Schaefer on the way) at all, But I suppose I would be willing to table a decent offer Edmundson if I was Holland but would much rather him go after someone like Gavrikov

Monahan was injured for the last 3 years. We already discussed about that. GMs could look at 2016-2019 seasons, and see how elite he was.
Now that he is healthy, they're gonna look at what he can do this year. I would expect a return comparable to Copp. Would be a big win for MTL.

Monahan plays RW on the PP with Suzuki and Caufield. And i think it would be funny for Edmonton to add him as he was an important player for the Flames.
Imagine Monahan scoring the winning goal in game 7 overtime against Calgary.
But i agree Edmundson is exactly what Edmonton need.
