Poor KK. He really stopped working to improve his game after making the Habs as an 18 year old.

Isn’t your issue more about the doubling down and signing KK to an eight year deal instead of the offersheet? Canes wouldn’t have traded for Patches for free as they wouldn’t have had the space. They also were never giving Trocheck 7 years.

I’m imagining a world that would have been different for sure, but I’m not convinced it would have been better.

What would be even better is if that second bruins goal today didn’t count. That was totally goalie interference and the NHL needs to do something about goal reviews!

Canes wouldn’t have space at the last deadline with or without the offer sheet. LTIR is still a thing

Plenty of other things i wish had happened instead though.

Got McCann from Toronto for very little. Kept the 1st and 3rd. Exposed Foegele in the expansion draft. No Bear trade cuz Seattle took Foegele. Signed Kulikov in UFA. No Cole. Allowed Philly to pay us to take Ghost. That roster would have been sick.

      Svech-Aho-Turbo
      McCann-Tro-Jarvis
      Nino-Staal-Necas
      Marty-Stepan-Fast

      Slavin-TDA
      Skjei-Pesce
      Ghost-Kulikov

We likely still don’t keep Tro with McCann here. Nino probably still balks at our original offer and he ends up losing out.

      Wasn’t this about KK?

Since you mentioned it, Canes fans need to get over the ref calls. Refs aren’t the reason we are not playing well right now. The 2nd goal by the Bruins was a good goal and that is exactly how goals are scored in the NHL. Greasy net front bordering on interference. Stop being upset, and get in front of the net…

Why would COL trade Lehkonen at all much less for less than they paid for him in their top d prospect at the time in Barron and a 2nd. TBL literally traded 2 1st rd picks for Hagel and DET just signed Copp none of those teams is doing that.

The League's office, have used their allotment of calling off goals because of goalie interference this month. Leafs used up the quota in the game against Jersey on Wednesday

I don't think he stopped working I just think mtl rushing him into the NHL severely hurt his development. He shouldn't have been in the NHL until his D+2 season at the earliest.

Ok I’ll try to be constructive
Try to think just a little bit what he’s doing here
      Can you do that ?
Or someone needs too babysit you ?
He isn’t trading with COL, he would have made a deal with MTL for Lehkonen, or Copp in WPG, or Rakell in ANA
It’s not that hard to understand

I heard montreal fans saying his best season was as an 18 y.o rookie though, and stats tend to agree. He just regressed ever since.

Ya that is true. That's not uncommon when a player is rushed into the league though. They play free the first year and show that they can hang in the league so the team decides to keep them on the roster however the consistency is the most difficult thing for a young player to find. If they falter a bit after their initial success it can make it very difficult to improve on the fly.

Canucks are running into the same issue with Hoglander. He looked great in his first season but in reality he should have never been playing in the NHL that year and been given more time to develop a complete game that is sustainable in the long run.

There are very few players that should be playing in the NHL before they turn 20yrs old even if they are capable in the short term.
