Description
Under management, there will be no more Jarnkroks, Engvalls, Kerfoots, and Malgins. Can't wait for the next era of the Leafs where teams will start to feel intimidated when playing against the Leafs

I know so many Leaf fans hate their own players, but that is one of the worse trades posted this season. Nylander has been very good this year, and to give up Nylander and the top two picks....absolutely ridiculous.
Gavikov had one good year, last year but has average to poor this season. I horrid UFA signing for a position of non need.

I saw an interested factoid last night...

How 'intimidated' do you think teams feel right now going into playing the Canucks? Has that led to success for the team?

The team leading in hits/game right now are the Nashville Predators. They are 5-6-1. 2nd are the Ottawa Senators, they are 4-7-0. How has this 'intimidation' helped?

You underpaid almost every UFA, and that nylander trade is absolutely attrocious.

Also, Jarnkrok isnt a bad contract, someone will take him

Nope, teams will be calling for Wilson if he was made available. A rare breed in the NHL that teams will be drooling to have in their top 6. In terms of Jarnkrok, 4 years for him was an embarrassment of a signing by Dubas. Assets will need to be added to get rid of that contract

What a horrendous trade for Toronto. Nylander is twice the player Wilson is, and you give up the picks?

It kinda of a "tradition" on CF when talking about the Leafs.
1. All Leaf Dmen are bad. Leafs are 8th in GAA this season. Yes, I would like to see some improvement by their Dmen, but at what cost
2. Leafs lose because they aren't tough. Then the solution by so many to overpay to get bottom enders from non playoff teams. I never know how that improves the Leafs.

Just a note. Thought Liljgren played well last night in his first game back. Holl played well. He seemed to skating like a NHLer for first time in awhile.

Thanks for the facts you related in your post.

Three very misleading stats......hits, blocked shots and giveaways. Could be a team that is leading in blocked shot or hits....just don't have as much puck possession. Giveaways...players that are trusted with puck carrying always have high giveaways. Players that don't handle the puck that much, just don't have the opportunities to accumulate giveaway totals.

willie has arguably been our most consistently solid player this year. That set up on the 2nd matthews goal last night was so fun to watch. Totally agree.

only thing i'll say about our D is if we keep Holl, he HAS to be the undisputed #6. He's good on the PK, I'll give him that, which is great, but his role outside of that really needs to be more limited than what it is

Liljegrens so good and due for a bit more of a breakout, the D is actually looking nice if he's ready to be Rielly's partner.

I think Holl should be the #6 defenceman on the team unless they find a guy who can do better than him there which is unlikely. Liljegren did play well and I think he'll get a lot better after about 5-10 games.

I completely agree with you about the tradition of overpaying for depth guys on bad teams. If they are okay on a bad team, does that mean they will succeed on a good team? Look at Ritchie? He's doing well in Arizona but sucked so bad for TO.

A 2.1 million dollar contract for an effective bottom 6 player is in no way a bad contract.

Just to add about Nylander. So many criticize because he won't battle in the corners. Yea there might be some truth in that. But those same haters would have preferred Nylander just dump the puck and the corner and then have a 50% chance of getting the back, instead of stick handling, trying to make a play with puck possession as happened on that 2nd Matthews goal as you illustrated.

No it wouldn't. A point a game player is far better than a 50 point winger coming off a major knee injury

If every team was healthy for a full season then there would be 384 forwards in the NHL. Nylander outscored all but 32 of them. So easy to find a guy who can do that eh? If it was easy to find point a game players there would be more than 30 of them a season. You're just pining for the 90's dead puck era eh?

You know for a fact Wilson is waaaaaaay more than just a 50 point winger. There's no one like him in the league. He's a game changer with his speed, physicality and skill. Yes, Nylander is the better offensive player for sure, but Wilson brings a factor no one else can. He's a unicorn. Teams would be lining up to get him. Caps wouldn't make this trade, especially if they can just wait a year and get Nylander for free.
