Zero chance on that Dallas trade. Benn with a little retention and Myers have pretty similar negative value imo. Pearson and a fourth doesn’t get you anywhere close to Bichsel

Disagree, RD are harder to find than 3C, especially a RD who is responsible and is being overpaid by 2m as opposed to 6

No from Winnipeg. A rental and a winger don't get a young top 6C with team control. Especially when the Jets get more for Dubois at the TDL next season.

Myers is over paid by about 5M. He’s awful.

Canucks decline that anyways. Not trading a top 6 C and winger for a distraction who wants to go to Montreal and is at best a lateral move compared to Horvat

Benn’s is def the worse contract. But the difference isn’t a top prospect. Especially if Dallas is taking on Pearson. Who isn’t a cap dump, but it’s still cap coming the other way

Well you look at the Marleau deal with the Leafs and the Canes, Leafs had to pay a 1st to get out from only 1 year of that contract and he was worth about 2m of it, Bischel was a 1st and not a high first at that

Not really. 2 seasons ago he was one of the worst players in the league. Last season he got a little better but still very bad.

Right and they got rid of Marleau free and clear. Couver is sending back Myers and Pearson. Not even close to the same thing

Unless one of Zucker or Miller return to last year's form, the Pens probably aren't doing that.
Jason Zucker has been one of the better Penguins so far this season, and although Miller has started to do better, his first handful of games were abysmal. Is Miller the better player? Yes, absolutely. Enough to add our 1st in a stacked upcoming draft, and the guy we just drafted in the first? Not the way he and Zucker have played so far this season.
And once Miller's extension kicks in, that's less money next season to go to players currently on our roster. I want Heinen and Blueger back, and if Jarry plays to his potential, he's getting a pretty big raise. We probably won't be able to get all those things even without his 8M AAV.

Benn is 33, paid $9.5M for this and 2 additional seasons. He has 0 goals and 3 assists this season. It is definitely a 1st round pick to dump his contract. Probably more. Myers and Pearson have 1 year left on their deals. They're both solid NHL contributors that are overpaid (but not badly). Myers is definitely worth $4M in the right role and Pearson $2.5M

This is an offseason move. Benn is from B.C. and Myers is from Texas. Benn has a NMC but Vancouver might be a place he's will to go for a reset.

No they don't lmao. Myers at 6 mil for 2 years as a big RHD is A LOT better than Benn at 9 mil for 3 more years. Benn's contract would cost several first round picks to move. That retention is barely anything

Benn does a lot of things that don’t show up on the score sheet. I don’t have an issue with the trade overall, just that I don’t think the difference between Benn and Myers with Pearson is Bichsel. But I’m higher on him than most. I think he’s gonna be a monster once his body adjusts to its size. Like a baby giraffe lol. I don’t disagree with anything you said tho

Agree to disagree. Benn still gets a lot of respect in the league for good reason. I do think swapping him for a Myers and Pearson would be a solid move, but not if it costs a top prospect. Being big and right handed doesn’t mean Myers is good at hockey. Just my two cents. Dallas has ELCs and bridge deals in place to accommodate Benn’s contract til it’s up. Suter and Faksa are cheap buyouts if they need extra cash

I like Benn and he's coming out of the slump but his age, production, and contract are going to be very detrimental to a contender or expensive to get out of. You can probably move Myers for little or no salary retention this season. Same with Pearson but less likely. The trade is 2 overpaid NHL caliber players with 1 additional season under contract for 1 NHL player who is massively overpaid for 2 additional seasons.

Although Dallas may not be willing to part with their 1st round pick and Vancouver ownership may be unwilling to fork out all that cash for it, the deal is pretty close to fair market value IMO
