LA is not trading Matt Roy, even for Chychrun.

They have a ton of nice pieces on the right side. Roy is clearly very good but I would rather keep a guy like Durzi and Clarke. Will be better for them long term.

Their left side is lacking hard though.

If Ottawa could have traded Zaitsev by now, you think they would have. Zaitsev has M NTC which likely excludes Arizona. Besides Arizona has no desire to take on 9m of real money of Zaitsev.

He would be their best dman on the left side by a decent margin.

Ottawa is in no rush to move out his cap. They don't need the cap space this year. They could benefit from it being moved next year. May as well keep Zaitsev and his cap this year as depth UNLESS he is traded in a package for a better dman (Which they do here). He will cost a lot less to ship out in the off season. As for his NTC - you may be right.

This total package is MASSIVE for Arizona. The full package going to Arizona is:

That is a BIG package. 2 very nice propescts, 2 firsts, 1 3rd and a very manageable cap dump.

Arizona does not turn this down. LA and/or Ottawa might though.

Hey Brian, I did see the additional "LA assets" going to Arizona, and agree with you...it's good deal for Arizona.
You're right, Sens don't need Zaitsev's contract gone this season. Maybe next season even if it's buyout.
But I don't understand all this love for Chychun by either LA, Ottawa and other posts which include Vancouver, Oilers and Leafs.

Me neither. The best I would do at this point for Chychrun would be a 1st, Turcotte, and Walker. If Arizona wants to upgrade from Walker to a defensive prospect like Spence or Durzi, then downgrade the forward prospect from Turcotte to Tyler Madden or Akil Thomas.

Beside a team can't have enough NHL calibre Dmen. If needed in time, they can easily be traded. Teams need at least 7 NHL Dmen per season, even eight. No urgency for the Kings to trade anyone.

I agree. If anyone learned that the hard way last season, it was the Kings. At one point, all six of the defensemen that started in the season opener were out with injuries.

You sure? They get a very good defensive right dman in Roy and get off of Zaitsevs contract. They pay a 1st and a very good prospect in Thomson though.
