No from fans on either side. That's a start. "Vrana too good" vs "Rasmussen too good". Vrana produces scoring, but is not solid enough defensively imo. Plus just look at his face.. I think a trade of Vrana for Andersson is a good trade for both sides. Even if it'll mean slightly less goals for Detroit it'll mean a bigger drop in goals against. And Calgary needs a goal scoring winger to make a run at the cup. There's solid enough defence remaining.

No it's not, Andersson is a top 25 dman in the league maning less than 5M for 4 more years. Vrana is a 2nd line winger making over 5M for the next 2 years.

Rasmus holds a lot more value. He's a top pairing RD on a team that was first in their division and just put up 50 points.
Vrana is a injury-prone second-line winger.
Not even bringing up the contract situation (guess what, Andersson has double the term).



It's a terrible deal and the flames would never consider it. Flames org loves Rasmus as he's run with every opportunity. He's locked up for 4 more years through his prime. Vrana is injury prone, playing only 26 games last season and missing substantial time in seasons prior.

Not to mention Vrana's defensive game is... subpar. It seems Wings fans are at the point Caps fans were a couple years ago, with pretending that Vrana is worth more than he is because he has stretches of decent play, but also can't defend for his life. Hopefully they get out of their trance faster than us Caps fans did, but in my opinion, he's an empty calorie scorer that isn't nearly as valuable as Andersson.

Calgary simply is not going to trade Zadorov. The PR backlash would be horrible. I don't agree with Hague needing to be included

I don't think Kylington by himself is enough for Vrana. I don't disagree with you on Zadorov, but I also don't want to offer Dube. If we did give up an LD, I'd want Hagg as additional depth in return

How is the math wrong? Something a bit more constructive would be appreciated then. Calgary fans are saying the trade would be way better for Detroit and Detroit fans are saying it's way better for Calgary. I honestly tend to agree with them on this one and wanted to check what the feedback would be on that kind of trade proposed.

Also - Please re-read the Elmo/Vrana comments and note the scope of how they would be interchangeable.

I don't think Vrana is a good fit, I simply wouldn't make an offer for him. So as for a trade around Kylington I haven't put thought into it

Kylington is at 2.5mil. 2 those of those players are above that pay grade at 3-4m. What would be a fair trade for Kylington in your opinion? I get the feeling a trade you'd find fair is something like Larkin, Raymond and Bertuzzi for Kylington.

Although I'd find it unlikely that SY and Lalonde would agree to it, but I could see either Bertuzzi or Vrana go for Kylington + 1st or Maybe a 2nd round pick. Although then Calgary would be stuck with a Cap problem. Maybe Zadina or maybe Kubalik would be a suitable fit for a Kylington trade. There's also the factor of why Kylington has an IR status.. How long will he be out for?

Whatever issue Kylington has been dealing with hasn’t been disclosed, but given he wasn’t put on LTIR, I can’t imagine it being long. Id do Kylington + a 2nd for Bertizzi 50% retained since he’d just be a rental for us but that’s about it.

I’d want definitely more than just Kubalik or Zadina alone for Kylington CGY might add Matthew Phillips or Walker Duehr if it’s for both though. Zadina seems to be DET’s version of our Valimaki. Not considered a bust just yet, but not living/playing up to expectations.

Im not an idiot. Kylington is simply a top 4 dman making 2.5M. just because you can't appreciate his value doesn't mean my views on him are bad. I would value Kylington at around 2 2nds.

What is Kylington worth to Calgary's roster at this point in time though? It's not just looking at him as a player isolated. If there were to be a hypothetical trade for Calgary for Kylington (or Andersson either for that matter), do you want to trade for a rebuild or for a cup run? Kubalik would be a fair trade for Kylington (Offensive depth for Defensive depth). Even Vrana or Bertuzzi would be an ok trade assuming Calgary added something, like a 2nd round draft (23 or 24). Although that would cause some Cap problems.. With Weegar now on the team, Calgary have room to let Kylington move to a team who could make good use of a young RD. Meanwhile Calgary picks up someone with a proven goal scoring ability to add some depth to your Offense. Like Kylington for Kubalik. Or Vrana for Andersson.
