Game 17 possible starting roster against the Sharks
Likely line-up. Let's see where people end up. Wouldn't mind seeing Sunny or Kubalik with Veleno and Berggren in a 2nd line.
Berggren and Veleno should also be in more special teams. They barely got any TOI in Anaheim because of it.
Copp STILL remains as 2nd line Center... (Without looking it up), was he most successful in Rangers as a center or as a winger? How long will Lalonde keep him in in that position before something changes because he is underwhelming, to say the least. I know, he's on a 5y contract at a pretty steep cost so we need to get our money's worth. But honestly feels like buyers remorse.
Also sad to say that I'm disappointed by Larkin and Razor in 5v5. Far from enough puck control. I can almost hear them anxiously hyperventilating, wildly flailing their sticks, deking until they lose the puck in, and entering, the O-zone.

Look back at Lindholm's stats in Carolina (average < 0.5ppg) . Don't forget that a key part to how he even reached UP TO a point per game were his 2 line mates who arguably are 2 of the best players in the league. Yes he is good, but I don't think he is as valuable as you make him out to be.

Thanks for the feedback. As food for thought - How much is the value of Lindholm affected by his former line mates (Jonny H and Ta-ka-chuck)? I'd say the extra goal scoring capabitilies for both Bertuzzi and Vrana is a palatable deal. The wild card is Zadina who has Great potential, but he's just got a bit of a mind block in Detroit and may thrive in Calgary.

Too much toxicity behavior. But far from all Red Wings fans are like this. It's probably just best to disregard those "That trade suggestion is so stupid. It would never happen in a million years and you're an idiot. But I will also not provide anything to counter or explain in a civil manner" comments. Their opinions are fueled by emotion rather than ration. Take pity on them. They are probably not very happy people.

They can't finish the few scoring chances they do have. We can't clear the crease. This is a BAD team right now. Minny should win easily.</div></div>
I've noticed a lot of your responses (pretty much all I've seen on my teams or others) aren't really constructive. Most are to insult/disagree or possibly to add weight to someone's insult. Let's be positive!! Yaaay!
That said, I mostly agree with what you're saying. But aside from the low the team is experiencing Right Now, my point is that I'm highlighting that Big E needs more ice time. That's all. Either through a top 6 position, or if necessary being sent down to GRG.

Next Year
Kase - I doubt SY would bring in an extra 4th line winger with the players available in AHL fighting to make the team (Soderblom, Berggren, Hanas). But maybe, to keep the roster competitive and if Pius Suter and Erne moves on too.
Gavrikov - Assuming Olli Matta doesn't extend his contract, there is also Albert Johansson who is looking good. If anything on the D-line, a right handed RD is needed.
About the trade otherwise - Agree with both previous comments.
Also - Doubtful the first line would be changed. Last season they had great chemistry and assuming Lalonde's influence doesn't change that, I don't see the first line changing anytime soon. Possibly if Bert moves on a slot will open up.
Kasper is a maybe. He's been looking good this season in the SHL thus far. He will likely get a year in the AHL before stepping into the NHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>With the acquisition of Weegar, Kylington is the odd man out and is the Trade Bait we have to offer for a Forward
We’d need retention on Bertuzzi at an additional cost, sure a 2nd or I’d gamble with Kubalik but he’s not enough and we don’t want picks, we want guys that can contribute now or the next season or two, since you are correct we’re making a run for the cup
Fabbro & Vrana are of little interest to us since we can’t bank on them being healthy and available, leaving us short handed or scrambling to create new line chemistry come playoff time
Kylington makes sense for DET AFAIC. He’s young and has room to improve as a puck moving & mobile d-man who can play both sides. He’s just not needed in CGY as much as another forward</div></div>
I could see a Kylington + 1rd Round pick -23, for Bertuzzi with 1m+ retained.
2 caveats - Bert is coming up on UFA 23 and is likely looking at at pay rise looking at how he's performed. Also, how will Kylington's injury affect him? How long is he out and how good will he be once he returns?
All this said, there are other options for the D-line available all things considered. Edvinsson is going to be joining soon enough along with Albert Johansson and Lindstrom is already playing a pretty solid RD. This trade was originally to look at what the reaction would be to get Andersson for Vrana. Although plenty of Detroit fans borderline would die for Vrana, I am not so convinced myself (but would love to be proven wrong). I wouldn't fall off my chair in chock if I saw that trade happen considering the needs of either teams.

Im not an idiot. Kylington is simply a top 4 dman making 2.5M. just because you can't appreciate his value doesn't mean my views on him are bad. I would value Kylington at around 2 2nds.</div></div>
What is Kylington worth to Calgary's roster at this point in time though? It's not just looking at him as a player isolated. If there were to be a hypothetical trade for Calgary for Kylington (or Andersson either for that matter), do you want to trade for a rebuild or for a cup run? Kubalik would be a fair trade for Kylington (Offensive depth for Defensive depth). Even Vrana or Bertuzzi would be an ok trade assuming Calgary added something, like a 2nd round draft (23 or 24). Although that would cause some Cap problems.. With Weegar now on the team, Calgary have room to let Kylington move to a team who could make good use of a young RD. Meanwhile Calgary picks up someone with a proven goal scoring ability to add some depth to your Offense. Like Kylington for Kubalik. Or Vrana for Andersson.

Kubalik for Kylington seems about fair, and MAYBE Ruzicka for Veleno (but probably a no on this one). 4th Calgary Round for Elmer. That suggestion is borderline a troll suggestion.. At this point in his development, I don't think you'd get Elmer for anything you'd feel comfortable trading away. Not even sure why you would aim for a young unproven player at this point in your cup run anyway. I'd imagine you'd be looking for a proven solid right winger.

Although I'd find it unlikely that SY and Lalonde would agree to it, but I could see either Bertuzzi or Vrana go for Kylington + 1st or Maybe a 2nd round pick. Although then Calgary would be stuck with a Cap problem. Maybe Zadina or maybe Kubalik would be a suitable fit for a Kylington trade. There's also the factor of why Kylington has an IR status.. How long will he be out for?

How is the math wrong? Something a bit more constructive would be appreciated then. Calgary fans are saying the trade would be way better for Detroit and Detroit fans are saying it's way better for Calgary. I honestly tend to agree with them on this one and wanted to check what the feedback would be on that kind of trade proposed.
Also - Please re-read the Elmo/Vrana comments and note the scope of how they would be interchangeable.

No from fans on either side. That's a start. "Vrana too good" vs "Rasmussen too good". Vrana produces scoring, but is not solid enough defensively imo. Plus just look at his face.. I think a trade of Vrana for Andersson is a good trade for both sides. Even if it'll mean slightly less goals for Detroit it'll mean a bigger drop in goals against. And Calgary needs a goal scoring winger to make a run at the cup. There's solid enough defence remaining.

True, but I was considering how training camp/preseason looked like. I think it might be worth putting that skill level with Zadina in a 3rd line with either Suter or Rasmusses (Rasmussen imo). I guess Vrana and Elmo are largely interchangeable, but I think playstyle and speed will be relevant to what players are best suited to play with each other. Vrana/Rasmussen/Zadina just feels right and I think Elmo will work well with Perron/Copp. Just not a huge fan of burying Big E in a 4th line. But either way, however you swing it, I'm excited to see what the guys can do.

Opening Season Line-up
Purely looking at preseason skill levels and game contribution, Berggren and Soderblom should make it into the middle 6, but because of the below reasons I see them as starting in GR along with a few others.
- Waivers - Although not as good, Erne, Suter, Sundqvist, Veleno and Smith should remain in the mix to help maintain that competitive environment. Not surprised if SY has create this log jam to push for that competitive "playoff" mindset.
- Chemistry - Soderblom/Berggren and Edvinsson/Johansson can build chemistry in GR. Learn how to find each other through muscle memory and all that good stuff.
- TOI - As mentioned above, I would rather see Soderblom/Berggren and Edvinsson/Johansson get more TOI at this point.
- Honing Skills - Although they could get this in the RW, having an "on-ramp" allows some space to work on the areas of improvement (Soderblom on FO and speed, Berggren on Shots, Edvinsson on confidence/consistency).
- Higher pick in -23 draft - Worse case scenario, by putting "worse" players in games during this season will put us in a better position for next years draft. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky (for once).
- NHL exposure still very much going to happen (injuries etc). <9 games in NHL for these young ones WILL happen.
- 23/24 Changes - There are a fair amount of UFA/RFAs happening at which point SY & Co will have a much clearer picture. At that point Kasper may also be in the mix to enter along with these guys.
Also <a href="/users/THE_OTHER_JUST_ME" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@THE_OTHER_JUST_ME</a>, it's "Soderbl<strong>o</strong>m" which translates to "South bloom" in Swedish. Berggren translates to "Mountain branch"
