Description
The Jeannot trade is a first offer, ie if I were Dubas I'd be willing to spend more Ideally I wouldn't have to. The importance of acquiring exactly him is so crucial to the leafs I feel. Nick Robertson has a ton of heart. Unfortunately with the two Tkachuks, Bertuzzi and the rats on Tampa, "heart ain't enough" (Paraphrase quote from Million $baby)

Don’t really think liljegren on the top pair qualifies as “fixed.”

Honestly Gio-Lilly & Rielly Brodie aren’t issues
Sandin-Holl is fine too

Liljergen is still developing. Brodie is the top right shot; however Keefe likes to mix up his pairings from time to time. Where they are paired is arbitrary. As the season goes on it will fluctuate. As for Jeannot his trade value is higher going to Toronto than other teams. A trade is a roll of the dice. It takes courage to take risk. Preds fans certainly like a player like Jeannot. #22 Tootoo maybe be the most beloved Pred of all time.
Here is a poem for you two to further inform you on my hockey opinion :
Darren Helm
Faces red from cold
Ice shaved with razors
On a lake of crystalized leaf
Rubber escorted on a clear sheet
Organs holding blood
pumped into a corner
holding a gun
exciting olde fun
The legs in temporary flight
the metal a flickering light
Found a stage
to
await a parade
The golden boy of junior
Smelted down for the show
Only the fire of the forge
remain torching the floor

A guy who will be 26 this season isn't really a young developing player. Also he shot 20% last season. His goal scoring ability is massively overrated due to that. He's a David Clarkson, one good season that is entirely unsustainable and everyone thinks he a future star. He isn't. Hes a bottom 6 grinder.

That's the blanket response from every fan base on here for any player on their roster. Apparently everyone is worth more than a 26 year old point a game player.

Michael Bunting - 27 but in the running for ROY with one good season and an UFA after this season. Played primarily top line minutes.
Tanner Jeannot - 25 but in the running for ROY with one good season and a RFA after this season. Played primarily middle six. Also one of the biggest fighters if I’m not mistaken.

Just to give some more information on Jeannot. Preds love their physicality, TJ is valuable to them.

Yeah 2 goals in the last 3 winner take all games is def a defense issue, what a smart insight! toronto d is the lazy answer cause they have no idea what else to say

Well, we all know what to say, and that there is just fundamentally something wrong with the roster construction of this team. But that’s sort of a cop out because it points to a, “no right or wrong answer,” scenario. But no, the D isn’t great.

I personally think the leafs have had enough offensive firepower, and have had the goaltending in the past. What do you think the issue is if it hasn’t been the D?

as cliche as it sounds mentally, theres also minimum 1 back breaking "must save" goals, i can go back to 2018, 2018 debrusk go ahead goal, 2019 nordstrom goal from the goal line, kuraly long shot top shelf, 2020 was foudy from the goaline, 2021 against the habs they were flat out awful but that weak goal from gallagher, and both this year were pretty bad, now thats not all why they lossed, they couldnt score, but those were goals that cant go in, they were deflating, the d i will say was a big factor in 2018

To get Jeannot, (Robertson, 2023 and 2024 first round pick. Leafs need a stud power forward LW. They won't be cheap so blow the socks off Nashville. Knies and Jeannot would be the future on LW.

Just curious why you feel TOR would have to pay more for Jeannot (if he were available, which he almost definitely isn't) than any other team?

I wouldn't call Tootoo the most beloved Pred of all time. That honour goes to Rinne, but a lot of other names (Josi, Weber, Forsberg, etc) would be ahead of Tootoo too.

Bunting had an unsustainably high 26.3 shooting % his last year in ARZ, and still had an even better season last year. He's no Jeannot, but he's not a Clarkson level mistake either. Jeannot should be fine too, even when his shooting % likely comes down.
