Nobody wants Lias Andersson, but that offer is still too much by at least the second.

Why in the world would we trade local boy Trevor Moore when we can make other roster adjustments to absorb Chychrun's cap hit? He was pretty much our best forward after the first of the year.

What other roster adjustments? That's not an overpay for Chychrun

If Moore only wants that much he stays in LA.

That Chychrun one is fair price to me, but I think his price will continue to drop. He's coming off an injury (and we don't know his timeline), his partner is looking to be Troy Stecher, and the Kings are actually in much better shape defensively than they thought they were.

There's not a lot in there that's enticing to Arizona. You'll have to include at least one higher end prospect or young roster player.

Andersson is likely headed to waivers in two weeks, and Walker doesn't have much value to a team like Arizona. Grans and Thomas are good pieces, but neither is good enough to build a deal around.

Drop Thomas and Grans for Durzi. You can probably drop the 2nd as well.

I'm with @OldNYIfan that there's absolutely zero chance that the Kings trade Moore. If they need more cap space after moving Walker, they'll just wait until later in the season when Chychrun's cap hit is pro-rated enough to not require another roster move.

Better shape defensively? I guess from a health perspective, but we don't know if Durzi will necessarily take a step. Plus, it's hard to say how Walker will perform after a year being injured

I may be failing to appreciate moore, but the Sabres are pretty well set with wingers. If we are gonna add any others, I would want them to be markedly better than the Sabres current options, or at least bring something different- like being big and physical.

Yeah, Moore isn't a big guy, but he's very competitive, kind of like Hinnestroza. I think he'd be a good fit in Buffalo

Yes, teams are charged a player's cap hit by the number of days he's on the team. There are 186 days in the regular season. If LA trades for Chychrun 93 days into the season (halfway), they're only charged 50% of his cap hit. Keeping in mind that any roster players that the Kings send out in the trade will still have 50% of their cap hit on the books.

Edit: It's actually 189 days this season.

The Kings even decimated by injuries were a top-10 defensive team, offensively they struggled, but having a healthy Doughty and Walker should not be understated.

To give you an idea of the injuries, here are the games played by Kings Defense last season:

Tobias Bjornfot: 70
Matt Roy: 67
Olli Maata: 66
Sean Durzi: 64
Mikey Anderson: 57
Alex Edler: 41
Drew Doughty: 39
Jordan Spence: 24
Jacob Moverare: 19
Troy Stecher: 13
Kale Clague: 11
Christian Wolanin: 8
Austin Strand: 8
Sean Walker:6

I'm sure they will be healthier, although I'm not going to pencil them in for being a top 10 defensive team just yet with the left hand side of their back end still looking somewhat shallow

As long as Roy can shut down the 2nd line and Edler/Bjornfot the 3rd, this should keep the defense pat and open the team up offensively. That LD2 was Olli Maata for most of last season until Edler came back, I think between Walker, Edler, and Bjornfot it will be handled.

Yeah, it makes for solid chemistry, but I wouldn't call them elite by any means. If the goatending turns into a pumpkin, and it very well could, that could hurt some of their numbers as well

Swapping out Edler or Bjornfot for Chychrun will make the team better overall because they'll be able to score more, but I think it will also lead to more goals against.

Chychrun is an offensive weapon, but isn't as good in his own zone.

There's no reason why the current defense won't continue to be a top 10 defense, especially when playing in McLellan's system.

It doesn't need to be elite, the Kings have always been stingy in allowing goals having two Selke caliber forwards to support defensive efforts is why the Kings were in the bottom 10 of teams in goals allowed, if they can continue that and improve offensively (hopefully yes moving from Athanasiou to Fiala) this should still be a playoff bound team. I think for this season my concern is more on grit, goaltending, and the team gelling offensively. Defense proved last year lots of combinations, the system works.

I like Moore a lot and I think he would be a good pickup for Buffalo, but I don’t know where he fits into the plan. Unless the Sabres make a trade involving multiple roster players to get one guy they don’t really have the room to add him and give him enough ice time yet.

I see Fiala as bit of an X-Factor. I could see him getting anywhere between 65 and 85 points. Hopefully the latter for you guys

He was 4th on the Coyotes in PK TOI, behind Mayo, Stralman, and Lyubushkin. Compare that to an elite two-way guy like Doughty who leads the Kings in PK TOI every season.

The problem with him being a “fit” here is that we’d have to make room for him- room that we don’t have, bc our priority is working in all the young talent we’ve acquired the last few years into our lineup & developing that

We’ve gotta see these young guys play now,
bc we have more good young talent coming behind them
