  1. Swayman, Jeremy [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
A scenario where the Bruins' 2022-23 is disappointing and/or Pastrnak walks, triggering a rebuild. You can't properly tank with top tier goaltending, not to mention he won't fit the post-rebuild timeline, so Swayman must go.

Swayman negotiates a one year bridge, banking on the drastic cap increase helping him get big bucks the next summer.
BOS
  1. Blackwood, Mackenzie [Droits de RFA]
  2. Casey, Seamus [Liste de réserve]
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
  4. Choix de 2e ronde en 2025 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
In this scenario, Blackwood never quite recovers from his injuries and covid, making him the perfect goalie to lead the Bruins to lottery glory.

Casey is, in my opinion, the Devils' 4th or 5th best prospect in an incredibly deep pool, and would easily be the best defenseman in the Bruins'. He's 19 at the time of this trade, and would still be a couple years away from NHL play. If Boston isn't happy with Casey (GM brain no like smol defensemen), the Devils might offer two firsts and a lesser prospect or two.

swayman is 23 how does he not fit the rebuild timeline??? does that mean we must trade mcavoy and carlo aswell?

very poor take lol

you want swayman then mercer or holtz is coming to Boston

you literally listed the exact reason why we shouldn't take blackwood, don't want another undersize dman in casey plus our RH side is already stacked with a few decent prospects who can fill the 3rd pair later on and those picks are for a few years so ya boston declines easily

12.5M for a winger is insane

Gaudreau scored 40 goals and 115 points and got shy of 10M
For Pastrnak to get 12.5M, he would have to be even better than that

Swayman is 23. He will be at least 27 when the Bruins are on the upswing again. My logic doesn't apply to McAvoy and Carlo; one elite defenseman won't have half the impact of a good goalie. Look at the 2021-22 Devils, they had plenty of talent but lost upwards of 10 wins to their awful goaltending.

Blackwood going the other way is a roster move, a bad goalie will get you lottery picks and lottery picks will get you a successful rebuild. Again, see the 2021 and 2021-22 Devils.

Casey is better than every prospect the Bruins have not named Lysell, you're foolish to dismiss him as "another undersized defenseman." His upside is significantly better than third pair.

Hughes and Nemec we have 3 years before we need to worry about. Holtz won't get that much. Mercer will probably have to be traded but he'll command a huge return.

yes but casey isn't a position of need meaning he will not hold as much value to boston. Carlo and Mcavoy are our top 4 RH side for atleast the next 6 seasons (Until carlo's contract is up)
also their are many more guys that boston will sell on to loose games before swayman. Lindholm/hall/ marchand/ grzelcyk will all go before swayman

also boston went through a rebuild with rask so yes you can actually tank with a good goalie.
montreal has made PO's 3 times in the last 7 seasons while having price as their goalie
anaheim went into a rebuild with gibson during his best years

a good goalie is key to win but a big key to success for goalies is how well their defence plays infront of them

colorado is probably gonna make georgiev look like a top 15 goalie just because of how stacked their dcore is

your trade still just doesn't make any sense lol

Bruins have prided them selves on having a good goalie for a long time from thomas to rask and now to swayman he is definitely untouchable. ari wanted swayman in a chychrun trade and boston said no so highly doubt this pile will get swayman

Literally any prospect is a need for Boston. Your prospect pool is Lysell and a whole bunch of garbage. If Boston wants to keep Swayman that's fine, the Devils will take this package to Vancouver for Demko

vancouver is gonna decline for sure hahaha demko is a top 5 goalie in the league you are gonna have to offer way more. you can have ullmakr if you want a goalie but most teams don't move their number 1 unless they have a prospect to replace them one day.

also that's what happens when you are a competitive top tier team for the last 15 years, most the dominant teams over the last while like pitsburgh, washington, boston, tampa, florida don't have good prospect pools. everyone goes through the cycles of good and bad lol

Not a fan of huge UFA deals with so much home grown prospects to deal with. Even with the 2025 pay bump, that is an insane amount for a winger.

Mason Lohrei was one of the top 15 producing d-men in NCAA last year as a freshman and was 2nd on his team in points.

27 on their upswing is ideal. Vezina winners age over the last 10yrs...

Igor - 26
MAf - 36
Helly- 26
Vas - 24
Renne - 35
Bob - 28
Holtby - 26
Price - 27
Rask - 26
Bob - 24

In the last 10yrs most Vezina winners are mid to late 20's. Swayman at 27 should be in his prime.

Say this year is the last of this era. Bergeron retires, Krejci returns to CZE, Pasta extends, Smith walks, a few others moved out for younger bodies.

What would Boston want then for last two years of Ullmark?

There were a lot of Fresman Dmen who put up points this year...Lohrei was a good two years older than many of them.

Hughes: 39 pts in 41 games (b. Sep 2003)
Behrens: 29 pts in 37 games (b. Mar 2003)
Morrow: 33 pts in 37 games (b. Nov 2002)
Ufko: 31 pts in 37 games (b. May 2003)
Ceulemans: 22 pts in 34 games (b May 2003)

Love Pastrnak, would do disgusting things to get him on the Devils. Would rather trade for him and extend him at 8 x $10M AAV than wait for free agency and have to go 11 or higher.

27 is when a goalie hits his prime…perfect. 🤷🏻‍♂️

BTW - Nucks aren’t taking that for Demko either..

IF they moved it (I don't know they would), they'd like want fututes. Boston however isn't going to go full rebuild. If he scenario you have above plays out then they'll need to win a lot of low scoring 1 goal games. They'll need both Swayman and Ullmark to do that. Both were top 15 in SV% last year, both are #1's and being able to run out a #1 each night would be huge.

He was also a recent converted forward trying to learn arguably the hardest position in hockey. His age means nothing, he was still a freshman last year.
