I could see the Habs claiming Holl off waivers. But as long as Sandin remains unsigned Dubas has to keep Holl. I'm surprised Gagner isn't signed yet.

Justin Holl isn't a bad player. I guess you live up to your name. After a first-round loss, you guys come up with a lame excuse on why you lost, usually blaming a couple of players. Will you guys EVER admit that another team is just flat-out better? (eg. Tampa)

Totally bro. Him and Kerfoot. Should be in the AHL. Nay, ECHL.
Like who the heck do these leaf fans above think they are? A big bodied right hand D man who can play the PK? For $2M?

Tampa was (is) the better team. They have a goalie that wins when his team needs him. The Leafs did not take advantage of his poor play early and he made them pay.
Tampa also had a very competitive natured bottom six that were not just passengers.
The Leafs are getting closer its just unfortunately the GM has yet to get the right mix in the bottom six or goalie that isn't a complete headcase

Could this have anything to do with the fact that he has handcuffed himself with those big 4 contracts? You guys need to get less top heavy if you're going to get the cup. Ship off Nylander and Marners, use the cap space to short up bottom 6 and net.

Just because ethe Leafs put up huge goals for during the season doesn't mean they can score at will. Once the big four feel like the mojo is gone their hands turn to bricks.

Sell off the top 6 to shore up the bottom 6? Sounds like a recipe for success!

Yeah, because staying the course has gone so well for the leafs in the past. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results? Your top four has shown they can't get it done when the chips are down. When will leafs fans admit dropping 49% of their cap on four guys was a mistake?

That's kind of disingenuous way of looking at it in all honesty. If Covid didn't kill the cap growth we wouldn't be taking about the big four the same way Tampa wouldn't be selling of top four d for peanuts.
The issue is the KD and the rest of the management team fail to see that the makeup of our bottom six is flawed. We have now got six guys with what 10 playoff goals in our new bottom six after have them score 5 over the last three season. We continue to rinse and repeat with the bottom six, the players change but the style doesn't.

Yes, the leafs would be less cap crunched if covid hadn't happened, but the point that your top four cant get it done still stands. They are still the guys you expect to get it done when they have the opportunity to sweep the leg, that's why there are getting paid the big bucks. Noted below are all the times the leafs have been able to close out their opponent in the last five years, and the contributions of the big 4 (or three for 2018)

Across the last two games in 2022, 7 points between them, only 2 points in the final game between them, both of which were assists

Across the last three games in 2021, 5 points between the three of them of which one was a goal (Tavares not included due to injury)

2020, elimination game, 0 points across all four guys

2019, last two games, 4 points combined, one was a goal

2018, elimination game, three points across the big three, all assists.
