Kerfoot would be a very odd addition to the A Team. I’m not saying I’m against it. Just an odd one. I’m gonna think about that one some more though.

Probably dubas is unimpressed with the trade market for Kerfoot OR some leafs player is dealing with some injury or something and they are waiting to see if they can utilize LTIR

Because everyone knows his value is more than a 2nd so the threat of a QO is great for negotiating

My guess is that if Dubas could even get a fourth or fifth for Kerfoot or Holl they would've been dealt by now. With almost every team capped out and already making their offseason moves, even average to good players making only a little more than the buriable amount are difficult to move in today's NHL. Some team (like colorado with a gaping hole at 3c and need for guys on expiring deals) probably should take a chance on Kerfoot, but its a lot easier said than done.

I also would assume that Sandin is not happy he barely played in the playoffs and that Giordano was signed ahead of him in the depth chart. Young players only have so many shots to prove themselves and make big money and so I don't blame him for probably trying to squeeze as much as possible out of this deal.

Lewis Gross his agent is very tough, fights hard for his clients (Gaudreau, Nylander). Also seen from Gross in the past is him leaving money on the table to find the best fit for his client. The recent example of Gaudreau speaks to that. The fit in Columbus was what worked for Gaudreau and money was left on the table in Calgary and elsewhere to get that done. Leafs cannot assure Sandin that he will be in the lineup every night or that he’ll have to play on the right side instead of his preferred left side. Also a matter of how many minutes he’ll get and if he’s going to have a shot at powerplay time, etc. Is Gross trying to force a better situation either with the Leafs or elsewhere? It’s a possibility. There is a log jam at LD for the next two years. IMO this is not about money but about fit and playing time.

What I think some people don't realize rn is that there are still some good FAs that you can get for free instead of giving up assets to get a kerfoot. Kerfoot is going to be moved for nothing most likely.

Sandin wants ice time, not money. He will continue to ask for more than Leafs can afford to stall for an offersheet.

Also, there is literally no rush to move anyone for the leafs right now, there are dozens of rfas across the league that need to be signed and lots of teams that need to make cap adjustments because of or inspite of that.
Also, if dubas moves kerfoot he needs a replacement for him, a lower cap hit one at that
