Description
Could this work? One trade fix for the leafs cap sitch while upgrading/maintaining quality. For NSH the cap works and they get ample replacements with compensation.

Basic thinking is:

Kerfoot + 2x 3rds = Jeannot
Sandin + 1st = Fabbro

With Muzzin unmovable finding a slot for Sandin on the left is tricky. Therefore, swapped for RHD Fabbro. Jeannot can play 2LW but comes in cheaper.

All in all both teams should benefit from this swap and the leafs have a viable 21 man roster for a cup run (can sign a UFA 4LW e.g. ZAR and leave Robertson in the minors if needs be also). The taxi squad is just to show options that can flip in and out the lineup during the season.

I’m pretty sure Nashville will probably tell you to put your guitar, if you catch my drift

Soon enough Nashville will run nothing but lhd . Nashville would pass. As we already have Josi, Ekholm, McDonough, and lauzon as LHD and one will be playing offhand. If Sandin is upset about being blocked as a lhd in Toronto just wait till he gets to Nashville

I can understand why Nashville doesn't want "futures" but really the Leafs shouldn't do the trade either.
Sandin is younger and will be cheaper than Fabbro this season.....so let's say that's an equal trade.
So the Leafs are trading Kerfoot, a first and two thirds for Jeannot. Yep he was good last season but gee that's a steep price. And both Fabbro and Jeannot need new contracts next season.
I never understand why folks think there is no spot for Sandin on the Leafs? Certainly the Leafs have quantity at LHD (as do most teams) but injuries happen, and not reason to think Sandin can't play on the right side. I hope this off season he is practising on the right side.
I went to the celebration of life of NHL Hall of Famer Pierre Pilotte. In his film farewell, he told that his new junior team had lots of LHD. So Pierre worked on playing the right side. Fact is two thirds of NHLers shoot left, so many players do play the right side. Gee, shooting left handed and playing the right side did well by Pilotte, Raymond Bourgue, Brad Park and others.

n a vacuum, Sandin and a 1st is a nice offer for Fabbro, but NSH doesn't have anywhere to put Sandin. Your estimation of Kerfoot and two 3rds for Jeannot isn't anywhere close to his value to NSH.

I heard that Gio played the right side in the past. Rielly-Brodie Muzzin-Liljegren Sandin- Gio RD.
