I can understand why Nashville doesn't want "futures" but really the Leafs shouldn't do the trade either.
Sandin is younger and will be cheaper than Fabbro this season.....so let's say that's an equal trade.
So the Leafs are trading Kerfoot, a first and two thirds for Jeannot. Yep he was good last season but gee that's a steep price. And both Fabbro and Jeannot need new contracts next season.
I never understand why folks think there is no spot for Sandin on the Leafs? Certainly the Leafs have quantity at LHD (as do most teams) but injuries happen, and not reason to think Sandin can't play on the right side. I hope this off season he is practising on the right side.
I went to the celebration of life of NHL Hall of Famer Pierre Pilotte. In his film farewell, he told that his new junior team had lots of LHD. So Pierre worked on playing the right side. Fact is two thirds of NHLers shoot left, so many players do play the right side. Gee, shooting left handed and playing the right side did well by Pilotte, Raymond Bourgue, Brad Park and others.
