Quoting: Hammerwise
I agree, some Pens fans thinking that the Pens have too many dmen, are putting alot of faith in SMith and POJ. Ruhwedel is a nice 7th and Friedman an okay 8th or 9th, but ideally that 3rd LD is Smiths or POJ, but neither are ready for 2LD. So I can only see them moving 1 of the loser for 3 LD (Smith or POJ) or Ruhwedel, none of which make a lot or would have real value. I cant see them moving any of the top 5 veteran dmen.
POJ and Smith are nice prospects/young guys and probably the best ready now Pen prospects, but that doesn;t mean they are league wide high prospects. Pens are an old core and they need to win now.
Nylander and Poulin are not the shiney youngsters they used to be, and Ratcliffe is probably an even bet to play 3LW or 4LW over either of them or poehling.
No one is jumping to grab Zucker, the only big money guy, but PHI could offer with Ratcliffe and MacEwen, something PENs lack, size and physicality
Poulin is still young and shiney and possibly is a mid season call up. But Nylander needs to be ready. Smith likely gets sent down. I think GMRH traded for him because he was waiver exempt. POJ likely gets that 3LD spot, Ruh and Friedman are a solid 7th/8th d pair.
O’Connor can be sent down forward wise. I could see them also trading McGinn. So this trade and a McGinn trade could make room for younger cheaper guys.
Guentzel, Crosby, Rakell, Zucker, Malkin, Rust, Heinen, Carter, Nylander, Ratcliff, Blueger, Zohorna, Archibald, MacEwan would be solid for forwards.
