Isles easily pass on that one. Korpisalo isn't really an asset I would be super interested in - he's had a SV% over .900 -once- in the past 5 seasons. I'd rather roll the dice with Ken Appleby or Jakub Skarek as the backup than treat him as a positive asset in this trade. Blankenberg is an undrafted guy who might have some potential, but to me it's hard to call him a strong prospect until I see him produce outside of that insanely good Michigan team this year. Chinhakov looks like he might turn into a decent player, but he's always going to have less value than Raty for the simple reason that he's a winger and Raty's a center. I just don't think there's enough here for the Isles to retain $2.5M on their backup goalie *and* trade their best prospect.
As far as the Devils trade, the pendulum swings wayyy back the other way in this being an insane overpayment by the Jackets. I understand you need to move the cap to run a 23 man roster, but I think you can find it somewhere else that doesn't involve trading such an integral part of the team as Jenner.
