A deal swapping Zaitsev for Tanev makes so much sense for both teams. Sens are a team on the rise getting an elite DFD and the Flames are heading into a rebuild and getting an elite tank captain. Zaitsev is one of those rare talents capable of single handedly losing you NHL games.

Unprotected sure, but it's not unreasonable for him to get a 1st + in return. Great player on a great contract.

He can get a first at the deadline from a team firmly in playoff position because that pick will be a late first. a 2023 1st in the offseason from a team like the Devils is absurd.

As an isles fan and the maker of this ACGM, if we can get this deal and then sign Klingberg, I’d do it. Dobson is u touchable for 99.9% of players in the league, but Tkachuk is the .1%. The deal is probably favored towards Calgary, but I don’t feel like getting mauled by flames fans, they’ve been through enough and seen enough terrivle mock trades for them lmao

The main problem is that Toffoli is 30 and only has two years left on his deal. No chance in hell the Devils trade a 1st in a strong draft for a guy like that.
