I think in the NHL video game GM mode you are right, but in real life the Girard contract, mobility, PP and PK experience, and being buried on an already offensive juggernaut of a DCore in Colorado is a good trade for Florida. Also its interesting that if Weegar is so amazing why his name has been brought up in multiple trade rumors? hmm. Also 1 year left on his deal, he might be asking for a bank next summer.

Girard had an up and down season imo. I just think Weegar is better all round. Girard's worse season resulted in him having 5 goals and 23 assist with way less minutes (Toews/Makar/Byram taking them away). Now give him way more minutes (PP1
time) and pair him with Ekblad haha. It realistically could be a steal for FLA if Weegar leaves COL (hence the picks)

I understand the logic but i feel like this handcuffs us next season. Weegar will be asking for a raise and odds are we won't be able to add another expensive d to the group with the manson signing back there, so essentially we are giving up 5 cost controlled years of girard for 1 year of weegar and i don't think it's worth it. If we end up signing kadri then this would work i think but if we need a trade chip for a 2C girard is the piece, lowry is not the 2C we're looking for either i don't think. He'd be solid 3C though

FLO are over the cap, trading Weegar for Girard doesnt make sense since they are gaining cap space (OK almost over the cap)
