I realize you’re attempting to troll. But saying Martin Brodeur was below average is about as intelligent as saying the world is flat. But perhaps you believe that. In which case, read a book, but also more importantly, watch just about any game of Marty.

As for this signing I think it is a bit rich. I am still hoping Blackwood pans out.

Felix Potvin was a better goalie, place the "Cat" in a NJD uniform and we'll be remember Potvin as the "GOAT" .

Fact.

I loved the Cat. Idolized him and have a poster of him somewhere still. But dude. Really? I get everyone makes a big deal about New Jersey, the trap, Stevens, and Neidermayer. The redline was taken out after the lockout. Stevens retired. Neidermayer became a duck. And yet somehow Brodeur put up his best numbers until 2012.
I am a die hard Leaf fan. But a guy has to give credit where credit is due.

Brodeur's not in my Top 5 all time of goalies. Heck he may not even be in my Top 10 goaltenders of all time.

Two years of merely average goaltending shouldn't get you a $3 million + contract. What the hell!?

After everyone laughed at the leafs having to get out of mrazek's 3.8 contract with two years left, a lot of goalies with a lot less/worse history got similar or more, just because mrazek had one off year of less than 20 games.

VV's career is not nearly as good as mrazek's. Husso was an AHLer essentially before last year and put up one good but not excellent season and gets 1 mil more?

I'm not trying to say Mrazek is some stud, I'm content with the leafs having to trade him. But the "what have you done for me lately" is a little much

Seems rich for a career .908 goalie who has never had a good playoff game

If this was the cost I’m glad the Caps moved on from him

I always liked Vitek more than Sammy, but for 3.4 million a year? I agree, I'll gladly take Kuemper and Lindgren instead if that was the price on Vitek's mind.

What's the deal with Bernier? Is he going on LTIR or is he coming back?

I was wondering the same thing, my assumption is that he becomes trade bait at the deadline for a contending team who has an injury or inconsistency. If devils retain 50% they should get something for him and he probably only has a couple years left so he probably wants to win.

Continues the trend of average goaltending since the below average Martin Broduer retired.

Guy has a .919 save percentage over 205 playoff games. It is really hard to take you as anything but a troll if you are not going to attempt to take a reasonable position, and you didn't even try to defend it. It is one thing to say you think he is over rated, but to say he was below average? Everything we see with results, our eyes and stats points to a different conclusion than your own. Seems outlandish.

Holy. Crap. By what conceivable metric did this clown determine VV was worth all this??? This just looks shady.

This is quite the deal to give a goalie who has produced two meh seasons and three bad career playoff games, I guess the Devils really are that desperate and decided to take the risk. If it works out, cool I guess, but if it doesn't you'll have to move him for less than what you paid.

The top 3 goalies in that Draft class was, Kidd, Broduer, Potvin.

If Brodeur played in Calgary, he would have crash and burned just like Kidd.

Potvin in NJD, he would exceled as good or better.

Kidd in any city, was doomed to fail.

Those are all facts.

The goalie is the only position where the surroundings and team defense and team system and playing style and coaching dictates how the player will development.

It's a fact, if Brodeur played for a different team, his career success or failures would have been different.

Other GOATS, like Gretzky and Orr, would have succeeded playing in any city.

Also not a fact. Every bit of this from the start has been a long uninterrupted string of wacky stuff passed off as sage wisdom. Wild stuff, man.

I tried presenting actual facts. He returned with Brodeur not being in his top 10 goalies of all time. Living in moms basement working the red eye at McDonalds as Assistant Fry Salter encourages some wild theories.

They definitely click all the piping hot take boxes, that's for sure.

You are wrong. Ask anyone in the business, the goalie is the hardest position to develop, it's more luck than skill that can turn a goalie great.

Forwards and Dmen are more easier to predict their career path based on the skillset.

Good signing. He’s a solid goalie that can give you wins. The money is a bit much but it’s the same as Georgiev so it’s alright then
