Ducks get better but still leave room for the future

Description
Ducks' signings of Strome and Vatrano make me think that the Ducks believe they are in a building phase. This opens the door to trading for veteran guys while continuing to stock pile assets for when they become more serious contenders.

The following trades have benefit for all parties and Ducks get to the floor while maintaining close to 18 mil to pickup more bad contracts for assets at the deadline.

I feel like the Nyquist trade could also be Bjorkstrand but without the same level of draft picks. Either way, it sucks for CBJ, but they need the room for Laine.

- couple depth defensement that can go to the AHL or stay up.

Keep Shattenkirk. Tragically, we filled the RD issue with Gudbranson.

Haha, they seem really excited about him. When he was with the Ducks, I really liked him. I think you'll like him too... just don't pay attention to his contract.

Columbus isn’t going to dumb their best two way forward (Bjorkstrand), if they are going to pay to dumb someone it’ll be Voracek or Nyquist.

Oh, yeah. I have no issues with the player himself. He probably is a perfect fit. But that contract is appalling, especially since like two hours after it was signed, they found themselves in cap hell.

Nice to see an original trade proposal for petry, do you have RD prospect on the same level ? Habs don't need another prospect in that position TBH

Looks like he changed it to Nyquist.

I think there'd be something here. I'd counter by taking out one of the picks and adding Bean to the trade. ANA gets a young, cheap, controllable puck-moving D, CBJ get the cap-clearing space, and a one-year RD stop-gap to help hold things over until Jiricek is ready to give the NHL a try.

That's one thing is that I don't actually know what MTL is looking for. They seem to have had a good offseason. The two things I based this trade off of was 1) Petry wants to be in the US and 2) Kent Hughes doesn't want to retain or give up assets to move the player. Ducks have some good D prospects (Helleson, Andersson, etc). BO Groulx is a two way center that I feel could help MTL this year or next and Derek Grant for sure can help now.

I think Anaheim would be good with that:
Nyquist, 3rd and Bean

for

Shattenkirk (%50 retained)
3rd rd pick, either year is fine

I think Nyquist is the more logical choice due to age and term left on the contract that both parties would be comfortable with. I think either way, it stings CBJ, but they did just get Johnny Hockey to soften that

Habs current C depth is
Suzuki
Dach
Dvorak
Evans
Poehling

So they definitely don't need another bottem 6 defensive C , they also have currently 13 F so they don't need a winger as well, the only thing they need is another good RD prospect (hughes also said the habs won't have a problem with keeping petry if the right price isn't there, yes they'll need to shed salary but that's for the future so its not a move they have to make) i think habs will want ian moore and helleson

Ducks just keep Shattenkirk for one season instead of paying Petry for 3 until he’s 37.

Year doesn’t matter to me, either.

Either way. Pleasure doing business 🤝
