I don’t c why Winnipeg trades Dubois for that return. Duchene had two years left and look what Sakic got for him.

Regardless of the trade and what the return value of Dubois is, I can’t see it making sense to pursue Another centre for Montreal if they already have Suzuki and are going to draft Wright. Because he’s French Canadian he’s going to be linked to Montreal no matter what but it doesn’t seem like the right fit

Need a lottery pick for Dubois, probably kick starts the moves of wheeler/scheifele and possibly more, Dillon and or Schmidt depending if he waives. But the focus on returns needs to be draft capital over another laine/roslovic for Dubois. Chevy probably going to try and save his gig though, so all bets are off

IMO; If trading PLD with 2 years on his contract to Habs Suzuki or Caufield have to be on the table.

If you get a chance to get a player like PLD you have to try, wright may be back in junior next year, and a centre can always play wing, wings always can’t play centre, having depth there is a good thing. And that would mean dvorak would be on the way out

PLD is a second line centre. If the Jets or Habs want pay him 7.5m long term so be it. But if I'm the retooling Jets.....I'd take Barron and the 1st that was proposed and just leave at 5.5m Anderson out of the trade.
Could the Jets find a good centre for 7.5m to replace PLD, and then hope to strike it good with Baron and the 1st rounder.
Now I see Jets holding onto PLD, but including Anderson in the trade, diminishes the return to the Jets.

Dvorak, Barron and the 1st would be much more acceptable to the Jets, than Anderson

Yes if a trade makes sense. But giving up Guhle 1st rounder + more seems like poor asset management. I’m not discrediting PLDs value either because I think wpg would get a nice package for him but having 3 young top 6 Centers and zero top pairing defencemen doesn’t make sense.
I could see a team that’s trying to get over the hump and really contend making that type of move for him (perhaps wsh if Backstrom is LTIR?)

That's pretty bad for the Jets. Winnipeg should not need to get stuck witha bad contract like Anderson's when moving PLD if the return is this low.

The Jets would get a better return at the TDL in 2 years and not be stuck with Anderson's contract.

No you don’t 🤣🤣. If the Habs want a winger then they’ll go out and get a natural winger and probably spend a lot less. And if the Habs want Dubois, they can wait until he hit FA and get him for free. All Dubois does for the Habs next year is make them mediocre.

unless Dubois agrees to a extension before a trade his trade value is rock bottom, teams are not gonna trade 1st rounders and good to top prospect for essentially a 2 year rental

If, as Murat Ates suggests, PLD wants to sign in Montreal in two years, then they aren't going to make an offer like that for PLD. They'll continue their rebuild and perhaps try to acquire him next year when Winnipeg has much less leverage.

If Dubois doesn't care and just wants to to test free agency/wants to leave Winnipeg, he's not going to end up in Montreal because Montreal is rebuilding right now and wont make the most competitive offer.

Neither will be on the table because Montreal doesn't need PLD right now and don't need PLD over either of them. I doubt Montreal offers either even if PLD didn't announce his intention to test free agency or their weren't rumours coming out of Winnipeg that he wants to play in Montreal.

If this is Dubois wanting to go to Montreal, its going to be a trade similar to the Trouba trade (especially since the Hockey Ops in both cases are headed by the same people - Chevy and Gorton). Montreal probably waits a year and offers Dvorak and a late 1st, maybe another piece (but not a Barron-type prospect).
