My UFA signings projections.
Johnny Gaudreau - Pittsburgh ($10M x 7) - Pittsburgh calculates that Crosby has around 7 years of hockey in him, so Gaudreau is signed for this time frame to support him as a speedy, skilled winger.
Nazem Kadri - Toronto ($6,5M x 7) - he never wanted to leave Toronto, he signs back there and compromises bit on the AAV to get max term.
Filip Forsberg - Los Angeles ($9M x 7) - Filip joins his best friend Arvidsson and becomes a key piece in LA while they're building a long lasting contender.
Kris Letang - Pittsburgh ($8,058M x 5) - Letang is the backbone of Pittsburgh defense and has been that throughout his career, I don't see him leaving, and to be fair Pens can't afford to let him go either.
Claude Giroux - Florida ($5M x 3) - Giroux could probably get more from free agency but he also knows that staying in FLA might be his best chance at the cup, and he's in there for the long game.
Patrice Bergeron - Retirement
Andre Burakovsky - Washington ($6,5M x 6) - WSH brings back an old face from their contending days. They have a hole to fill in 2LW and Bura fits the bill pretty well in my opinion.
David Perron - St. Louis ($4M x 3) - Man is a Blue, and man has cost $4M for many years. STL offers him the same contract, and I don't think he has a reason to leave. They have unfinished business.
Ryan Strome - NY Rangers ($5M x 6) - The product of Panarin needs to stay with Panarin, I think his career will flop like a fish on a dry land without him, so he takes a bit of a discount and stays in New York.
Andrew Copp - Detroit ($5,25M x 5) - Detroit gets the 2C they've been looking for.
Valeri Nichuskin - Colorado ($4,5M x 6) - Colorado saved Nichushkin's career, so he agrees to take a bit of a discount to stay around, compensated with good term.
Vincent Trocheck - Columbus ($5,85M x 6) - Columbus gets that Top-6 C they've been needing since Dubois left. I can see Trocheck being a great fit with Bjorkstrand, and a good veteran presence for the young centers coming in Johnson, Sillinger etc.
Ondrej Palat - Tampa Bay ($5M x 5) - After how good Palat has been in these playoffs, Tampa just can't afford to let him go. They offer him a contract as close to his previous one they can afford, and Palat stays around to compete for more cups.
John Klingberg - Seattle ($7,5M x 7) - Kraken seems bland as an organisation and they have a bit of a RHD problem currently, so they splash out and sign Klingberg to make their team look more interesting from outside POV. Good offensive mentor for Nemec, assuming they draft him fourth overall in this draft. Klingberg-Nemec-Larsson forms a great RHD core for future.
Evgeni Malkin - Nashville ($7,1M x 4) - This is a completely left field prediction, but we have seen that Nashville has been drafting plenty of Russians (Askarov, Svechkov and potentially one of Yurov/Mintyukov/Miroshnichenko this year) as of late. Maybe Poile could plan to bring Malkin a mentor for this outlandish talent? He's one of the most renowned active Russian player and could easily sway some interest from KHL prospects to join Predators team.
Evander Kane - Philadelphia ($7M x 7) - Fletcher thinks he once again hits the motherload by overpaying an UFA. Kane is easily swayed by money, and Fletcher agrees to give Kane the same contract he was forced out of in San Jose to bring him back. Broad street bullies get themselves one more bully.
Darcy Kuemper - New Jersey ($6M x 5) - Kuemper, a veteran goalie, sees his chance to make money now and joins the Devils who's been having goaltending issues. Kuemper-Blackwood tandem alongside young team could have a promising look for the future.
Jack Campbell - Chicago ($4,5M x 4) - Blackhawks are currently without a 1G, and Campbell is probably one of the better UFAs available.
Marc Andre Fleury - Toronto ($4M x 2) - Fleury is used to be on the limelight, and in Toronto he'd certainly be just in there. He saw the potential Leafs had in the playoffs against Tampa, and decides to join in behind a young team, trying to capitalize on their great form and maybe add one more cup to his totals. He's a playoff kind of guy.
Ville Husso - Edmonton ($3,25M x 2) - With Mike Smith potentially retiring, Edmonton is without a 1G. Husso seems like the most logical solution for Holland to approach here. EDM rocks with Husso-Skinner tandem for the foreseeable future.
