You could probably find a way to sign Trocheck as well. Maybe a few other Hurricanes you could bring over too.

Probably doesnt work as presented, though you could make the pieces fit. Zucker through his cap hit and poor performance would be little more than cap matching piece in a trade for petry. Habs could use maybe a 2nd or poulin to help laval next year, then add zucker to even out cap hits abit. Habs get futures, and penguins get petry to replace letang without taking cap for other moves.

I think Montreal is definitely fine with moving Petry (trade request rescinded or not) and would even be willing to eat Zucker's contract for a year, but they aren't going to move him in a trade like this without at least one good future. Petry can still play at a very high level. Think the Ellis trade.

Detroit accepts, and we'd be interested in Kapanen and Nylander too.
