That’s insane. I’d wager if Yzerman goes after Petry it would be around OP’s offer and then he’d move Hronek in a package for a young top 6 C or futures.

There was a trade I think that was Detroit trading a 4th for a bottom 6 player and there was like 10 Detroit fans responses to say Detroit isn’t doing that. Like my god

WPG & CGY trades aren't *too* bad, but can you explain why you think the Red Wings, who are still technically in rebuild phase, would make the other deals?

Sorry we do not want some other crap. Yzerman over the last two years has proven to be adept at trading pi ks and moving around the draft board to get the players he likes. He has a proven track tree record for drafting and I for one would rather let him use those picks then trade for a bottom six winger.

A little context please because people on this site always leave out the details and the devil is in the details. Who was this bottom six player, did he have a huge cap hit, allowing the other team to shed cap for nothing, or was it a player who is like 35 and is playing at 25%, or maybe it was a player who was a trouble l maker and that team wanted to get rid of him. You.left out a lot of details just to make the Wings fan base look bad, but I have tough skin and I know that on this site there are people who expect other just to bend over to what ever trade is proposed. Sorry , not me.

Most of these trades are not good for Wings. And Justa Boss if you do not like it, so be it,

Hronek for JP has merit, but Wings desperately need a #2 center. Hronek on his own will not get that but a package with him in might.

Sundquist for Monahan I'd a no go. Both are injury prone. At least two things are evident, Sundquist is cheaper and Monahan is coming off surgery so no clue what you are getting.

Petry is only traded for if Hronek in a package, is traded for a #2 center. Why would Wings take on a player who does not help.renuold and that also.helps a divisional rivals cap.

I am fine e with Schmidt deal, even willing g to throw in a B prospect

Definite no to Pens deal. Zumcker is overpaid and underperforms on a very talented team, do not expect him to get better with Wings.

It's not the value being the issue in most of the trades that Wings fans summarily reject, as much as it is the failure of other fan bases to recognize where they are in their rebuild. Giving up assets for a soon to be 35 year old just doesn't make sense, even when that 35 year old is still a solid player. The Wings aren't going to be Cup contenders for, at least, a few years with or without guys like Jeff Petry, so what would be the upside of giving up future picks or young players to acquiring them?

I get the whole mentorship thing, but there are older vets that are still passable players who are great in the room that they can acquire for just short term money. Of course guys like Petry, Zucker, etc. would improve their team, but what does that really accomplish? They don't make the Wings into a Cup contender, and they likely don't even get them into the playoffs. That's not even mentioning the advantage the Wings have with all their free cap space. They'll likely be able to leverage that space into obtaining picks for taking on a contract or two other teams can no longer afford.

EDM trade don't effect their status, and I think Pulju is a decent fit for them.

Value wise the MTL trade could end up as a jackpot, and DET is at least partly the most logical option for Petry in terms of him being from Michigan. He replaces Hronek for a fraction of his value.

PIT trade is strictly for adding a 1st round pick for them.

Detroit is better off with Hronek than with Pulju, IMO. I agree with the guy above that Hronek only gets moved for a C or something we actually need.

Petry would be fine but DET should not be paying assets for guys that are going to be here a year or two then leave/retire. I'm hoping that lesson was learned on Nick Leddy, where they luckily recouped the 2nd rounder at the following TDL.

Fabbri for Zucker is probably about even because they're both injury prone, so we're effectively giving up Zadina (who Blashill seemed to have it out for) for a mid-1st. Value wise, sure, that's probably fine right now, but I don't see why Detroit sells low on a 22yo who was incredibly unlucky last season in the minutes he did get.

Most of this post seems like a "rob Peter to pay Paul" situation. You move a guy then need to fill that hole, then move another to do the same. Ultimately, the team ends up older than it was before without being any better.

While you have some points, I disagree on this team being worse.

Oh, I didn't say it's worse, I just said it's not better, especially in 3 years when Petry/Schmidt/Zucker are all in their mid to late 30s while Zadina/Hronek are in their primes.

Zucker has only one year left so he won't be a headache for you then, he's added here to balance cap.

Zucker, 1st for Fabbri, Zadina

Pittsburgh not trading a 1st unless it is part for big time return. They also want no part of that Fabbri contract.

Yeah because 5 off-season trades is totally resonable. Ridiculous lmao. I’d be stunned if we trade more than 2 roster players.
