You can take out Wahlstrom + the 2nd and the isles wouldn’t do it.

Not sure a 9 asset trade is in the cards but I think the Isles would do it. Both sides benefit.

Oliver Wahlstrom is bad at hockey. Anthony Beauvillier is bad at hockey. Picks are meaningless. Open your eyes.

That’s an interesting take. So why would the Jets want to make this trade lmao.

you seriously think a career 28.8 GAR player and a player with an elite shot and managed to produce a ton of high quality chances per game while playing with 4th liners are bad at hockey? mhm ok

Scheifele is a head case. I remember watching him get thrown out of the game at Belmont this year for picking a fight with the officials. Setting aside the fact that I wouldn’t move these assets for Scheifele, there also isn’t a positional need for him.

If hockey was just shooting then yes, Wahlstrom would be elite. Unfortunately, there’s the forecheck, scoring, assisting, and IQ aspect of the sport.

I’m not thrilled with how Wally has played, but I wouldn’t make this deal either. If I’m moving Wally in a package I’m gonna want to target someone like Tkachuk, but since that isn’t happening I don’t see why you move him for a head case who doesn’t play defense. Also Scheifele seems like he is about to enter a steep decline.

he is great on the forecheck and has a very high IQ. Great on special teams and is very talented. Not something that gets thrown in as an add-on. HUH?

End of the day the guy who is gonna fix this franchise’s scoring issues is probably gonna have to be acquired through the draft. Isles can’t keep adding older veterans and expect things to improve.

I am not as bullish as you are on Wahlstrom, but I’d be lying if I said he won’t put it all together in a couple years. Maybe he peaks as a second line winger, but he’s a valuable trade chip and shouldn’t be traded for Winnipeg’s trash.

Trading Wahly would be the worst move we could make. He never had consistent line mates, spent most of his time with Pageau, Cizikas, Bailey and Parise and created TONS of high quality chances when put with Barzal. Is super talented and is super young. Give him 2 full seasons and he will prove his worth

To be honest, I kind of think Wahlstrom‘s end of the year press conference was the most impressive part of his season. He took responsibility for his issues which is sometimes the most difficult part of a young players development.

i have watched every single shift of the islanders since 14-15. Every. single. game. He makes mistakes, sure. But he is not below average on any of the traits you listed. Moving him would be stupid. I agree with you. I think he can be the RW on Barzal’s line if you find a true 1st line LW for him.

How many excuses can you make for the guy? Better to get out ahead of this and deal him before he becomes JHS. Or Dal Colle. It’s not a knock against him, really. A lot of guys never hit their potential.

You’re wasting your time lol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy make so many wrong predictions. If @linehan10 says someone sucks, that player is going to have a great career. This is a good thing. I’d be concerned if he spoke highly of those players

End of the day this team’s window is closing fast. Might be time to say this core isn’t working and try and find younger pieces to help Barzal and Dobson. Wahlstrom, Raty, Holmstrom, Bellows and Salo can all be a part of that.
