Description
IF YOU WOULD DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT

NOTE: This can not happen if Keith does not retire.
NOTE: This is being started during Game 7 of Oilers vs Kings

Let's start with trades

Trade 3 done before draft
Trades 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 ,9 all done on draft day
Trades 5, 8 all done at start of FA

1. Barrie -----> Stars
Peterson, 2022 4th, 2023 2nd -----> Oilers
Now this is a needed trade for both teams. lets start with the Stars, It is well known that they will probably lose Klingberg to Free Agency so Dallas will be desperate to find a replacement for him. In come the Oilers, come next season the Oilers will have to trade one of their powerplay quaterbacks (Barrie or Bouchard) and it seems they have chosen Bouchard, so trade Barrie as some teams will still be high for a righthanded ppqb. I would imagine the asking price for Barrie would be around 2nds, so a B+ prospect a 2nd and a 4th would most likely do the trick.

2. Foegele -----> Canucks
2022 4th , 2023 4th (NYR) -----> Oilers
There isn't much to say about this trade, Foegele just dosen't fit the bill of a bottom six player being payed for 2.75m. Think he needs a Fresh start and Vancouver is great for that as they are needing that bottom 6 player who can score while also being physical. 2x 4th round picks would probably get it done if not could add a 5-6th rounder to send to Vancouver.

3. Keith -----> retirement
In order for this to work Keith NEEDS to retire, I'm a big fan of Keith and love how he has been teaching both Broberg and Bouchard but not too keen on having a 36+ defenceman for 5.5m. so hoping he retires after having gone on one last deep run in Edmonton before hanging up the skates. Wish him good luck in his probable Blackhawks front office position.

4. Bogosian -----> Oilers
2022 4th (VAN) -----> Lightning
This move is purely a depth move, you need someone to replace Keith on the mentoring role while also being able to serve as your 6th or 7th Dman. having the choice of 2 veterans in Russell or Bogosian will give Woodcroft the help if he wants to go 11 forwards and 7 defenceman. A 4th rounder should get this done.

5. Smith, 2024 4th (EDM) -----> ANY TEAM
2024 5th (VAN)-----> Oilers
There aren't many teams that would be all over Smith, but I Think that there are 2 teams that would be interested ,Buffalo and Vancouver. I'm more convinced about him going to the Sabers if anything, Buffalo can faintly see the light at the end of the 11 year tunnel that is called "Rebuild" and having a goaltender in Smith who plays with so much ****ing passion is a good asset to have in a mid rebuilding team like Buffalo as it can spread throughout the locker room and give everybody that confidence that they are sometimes visibly lacking. Now Vancouver I way debating on as it's well known that they will be moving on from Halak. But we don't know who will take his spot, will they look down in Abbotsford at Spencer Martin (who played amazing in all his starts) or will they look into picking someone up in FA which is pretty baron.

6. Crouse (RFA Rights) -----> Oilers
Brassard, Samorukov, 2024 1st (EDM) -----> Coyotes
Now for the big splash, the Oilers expressed interest in Crouse earlier in the year so now with the price of a roster player and a 1st set they get it done. Lets start with Arizona. They are getting B+ prospect, a 3rd line scoring forward and a 1st. If I were Arizona I would not be mad at the return. Samorukov is a projected top 6 dman in the league but just hasn't fit in with how the Oilers are going with their dman future, he is a good transitional player with the puck and can QB a powerplay. In the Arizona system he will get more chances of call ups and improvement than he would get in Edmonton's system. There isn't much to explain about Brassard, he is a good veteran presence both on ice and in the locker room and can run on your PK. The 1st rounder will most likely end up somewhere in between pick 17-25 so Arizona should have a decent mid/late round pick. Now on to the Oilers, Crouse is a gritty goal scorer who I think would mesh well with all 3 lines playing on that left side, he will also bring in some extra scoring which we have been somewhat lacking in over the past seasons. He did break his hand in a game against Edmonton in March (ironic lol) but he is expected to be 100% and back and ready for training camp.

7. 2022 4th (EDM) -----> Oilers
Benson (RFA Rights) -----> Devils
I have mixed thoughts on Benson as I want to see him grow as a player but he is constantly being passed by on the depth chart by other players, so as many people would agree, I think it's time for a change in scenery. I would send him to a team that would give him the most likely chance to succeed and so I picked NJ, You could just give him to any team and that would do but I think many people still believe that he can still fetch a 2nd or a 3rd but I think a team will even go near him if the asking price is a 2-3 pick so I think he could at least fetch you a mid round pick hence the 4th. which Edmonton would just be getting back their own pick in the trade.

8. 2023 3rd (CGY) -----> Oilers
Rodrigue, 2023 5th (EDM) -----> Kraken
With the changing of the Goaltenders there had to be sacrifices, Rodrigue is one of them. he has decent potential but won't get the chance to show it in Edmonton. Sending him to Seattle who would 100% give him the chance to take that next step is needed and with the sweetener of a 5th rounder I think he could fetch a 3rd.

9. 2023 3rd (NSH) -----> Oilers
Kassian -----> Predators
I don't think that he is neccesary a cap dump as many people would say as Jon Hynes (Nashville GM) likes his big hitting forwards that will make a difference. Considering they have 12m in cap ,Thus I don't think it's a cap dump. So I think that you could fetch a 3rd for him.

Draft Picks

1st Rounder : pick #25 - Denton Mateychuk

4th Rounder (Stars pick): pick #113 - Liam Amsby

4th Rounder (Oilers pick): pick #118 - Maxim Barbashev

5th Rounder: pick #150 - Elmeri Laakso

6th Rounder: pick #182 - Kenny Conners

7th Rounder: pick #214 - Charlie Leddy

Now for the signings (FA first then re-signings)

1. Darcy Kuemper:
He is probably the biggest fish any team could sign this FA, And I would 100% be gunning for him I would offer him 6m for 2 years. I do think that another chance at winning the cup will entice him to cross the border. My only problem with him is his age, he is in his early 30's (32) which is the reason I only gave him 2 years, as the memories of the Koskinen and how his contact had aged scares me from giving long term to a veteran goaltender.

Now for the Re-signings

1. Jesse Puljujarvi: 3.75m x4
I am a firm believer that the Bison King will rise again, so I think that a 3.75m for 4 years is a fair gamble to role as I am hoping that he will rebound from his injury riddled season.

2. Evander Kane: 4.95 x3
To me Kane has proved to me and to the organization that he can still score at his 30 goal pace, This signing would also give Mcdavid that steady scoring winger that we have always been looking for.

3. Kailer Yamamoto: 2.5m x3
Yamo had a pretty miserable start to the season but ever since Tippet was replaced by Jay Woodcroft he has been putting up points and playing with more confidence.

4. Ryan Mcleod: 975k x2
Clouder has been playing some really good hockey this year and has handelled centering the 4th line very well, I do think that he could be a middle 6 to top 6 player in 3-4 years so I gave him a 2 year extension so he will get that big contract that he deserves when he's 24.

5. Cooper Marody: 950k x2
This is a last final "Show me" contract for Marody, he has been getting passed by on the depth chart and needs to improve his game if he wants to make the team.

6. Brett Kulak: 2.1m x2
Good local Alberta boy has done well so far in both regular season and playoffs so it would be a mutual agreement to bring him back.

7. Kris Russell: 975k x1
Russell in my eyes is one of the most important players on this defence, he does the one thing that most players hesitate to do, and that is Blocking Shots. this guy leads the entire NHL in blocked shots and is a decent shutdown dman, would act as the 7th dman.

8. Prospects:
All signed for under 975k

    Zac Bogosian in his introductory press conference stated he resigned with the lightning because he wanted to raise his family in the Tampa area and he wanted the certainty of the three-year contract so he took less than he could have gotten from other teams to sign with Tampa there's no way he's waving his no trade clause to Edmonton nor would Julian Briesbois trade Bogosian who is one of only three right defenseman with NHL experience sign next year for 4th round pick

    Dallas won't do that. You might get a 3rd or two 4's for him but can't see the Stars giving up more than that. If that's not enough, then they probably pass and go for another option.

    Stars will decline this, we need NHL level players on ELCs. There's no desperation to replace Klingberg.

    Also can't see Mateychuk drop this far.

    So .much wrong with this.

    - Benson and Marody probably don't get contracts. Marody is not an NHL player and should not be on the roster.
    - Barrie doesn't have to be moved, and if he is not for a paltry return. You aren't getting a perennial 50 point RHD on a great contract for peanuts.
    - WTF is that Smith deal?? He's a fantastic goalie when healthy, in fact he's 4th in the league for playoff save percentage (min 3 gp). He's NOT a cap dump.
    - Foegele is a hard hitting, high energy bottom-6 forward who is good for 15-ish goals per season with very little PP time. That has value. Two 4ths isn't much value.
    - your cap is wrong. If Keith retires, Edmonton gets a ~$3.8M cap bonus.
    - where is Holloway?
