One of the best prospect goalies in the league is a sweetener? This is just simply ridiculous. Wild hang up and do business with Ottawa or Buffalo. This just isn't it im sorry chief.

Breaking down that trade into pieces.

1. Blackwood for Wallstedt. Closest comp that comes to mind with be Andrew Raycroft for Tuuka Rask in 2006. Raycroft was coming off a down year and Rask was one of the top couple of prospect goalis in NHL.

2. Fiala for 5th overall. There is no real direct comp, but if it were fair for both sides, that leaves...

3. Stillman, Gritsyuk and a 4th for a 6th.

Brutal

Maybe something like:

Faila + 2022 1st round pick (MIN - #27)

for

Stillman + 2022 1st round pick (NJD - #5)

I’m clearly fine with another team giving up their top pick if they want Fiala. They shouldn’t though, because the Wild hold no cards here

Wallstedt - first goalie from previous draft. Top-20 overall prospect and top goalie prospect
Rask - second goalie from previous draft. Top-20 overall prospect and top goalie prospect.

Raycroft - 26 years old, career 0.908 sv%, coming off 0.879 season
Blackwood - 25 years old, career 0.907 sv%, coming off 0.892 season

I would walk away in that case, if I’m Fitzy. I could care less about trading Stillman, but they should want more in return for 5OA. Just make the pick, or try to package for a better player like Matthew Tkachuk

I really think making the pick sets us up like Colorado was. Where Hughes/<22 pick> come in for the playoff push.

Wright, Nemec, Slafkovsky are probably the only three guys in NHL next year.
Maybe Jiricek, a couple of others by end of year.

Yeah Arizona would likely be better off (over) cooking him. But for us? I can easily see him as a 1 and done who comes up and plays *some* role in a playoff push. or even goes to utica.

Minnesota isn't trading fiala much less their top G prospect for a G they don't need, and 5th round prospect. Nothing you offered Is good beside the 1st round pick for fiala.

That’s one of the only ways NJ should even consider moving their 1st for him.

Blackwood is a cheap option with potential, assuming Fleury is out.

That 5th round pick is one of the best young goal scorers in Russia… not too different from another current Wild player (though probably not as good as KK)

Your expectations for a Fiala return are way too high, considering the Wild have legitimately no leverage in a potential trade.

Minnesota has Talbot whose better. So no. Wild aren't trading jasper wallstedt for worse G and more expensive, injury prone one.

He's not in same category as kaprizov, not even close. Kaprizov didn't go in 1st for a reason.
