Read caption if trade. And besides, I don’t actually think Edmonton values Pulju very highly. Talks are that one of him or Yam could be on the way out

I hope we wouldn’t do that trade! If we were to trade Puljujarvi, I would want a good young NHL goalie coming back… so Oettinger would be coming to Edmonton in this trade… with that being said, a trade with Puljujarvi going to Dallas wouldn’t work in my opinion.

Yamamoto seems to be the guy going if its between kane, yamo and JP. But JP is very highly rated in edmonton his lack of scoring will let kenny sign him for pennies om the dollar for term

If Edmonton is smart, they’d do that. If I was a GM, I would easily pay this much and more like I had for the mock. However; even tho the mock trade was moreso a joke, and it would include another good piece on top minimum, I have a strange feeling Pulju is gonna get traded for a really poor return. A 4th liner from Holland’s Detroit days with intangibles, a 2nd, and a B level prospect I could see happening if HoLLand decided to be the GM he is half the time

Petry's on a 52-pt pace under St. Louis. I understand these projections are flawed, but it's a strong argument that Petry isn't broken, the previous system was.
As a Habs fan, I'd watch games and wonder what the hell they were doing in their own end... Petry was the guy who vocalized it and Habs fans and media turned on him. If he is traded, which seems to be the path he's on, whoever gets him is acquiring a better player than what the capfriendly crowd gives him credit for.

For cap reasons, it makes sense. Equal cap this year and saves 3 mil long term; plus the upgrade of pick that’s also into a better draft.

He refused to give up JP at his lowest for a 2nd and a b6 guy. Doubt he deals him given the track record. I see yamo being the guy on the outside though if he doesnt agree to a bridge at about 2.1ish

IMO Dallas should tear it down and rebuild around Robertson and Heiskanen. Seguin and Benn are over the hill.

I 110% agree. He is a solid 2nd pair guy at worst, and a great rebound candidate. I think he’s very likely on the way out, and this could be a steal for Dallas. Taking on cap like this is honestly the only way I can imagine Montreal gaining positive value picks-wise for Petry at the moment

I don’t see Dallas moving Ottenger at the moment, however I think that HoLLand isn’t exactly favouring Pulju rn from the time being, and either he or Yamamoto are on the go from the sounds of it. Value wise, this certainly isn’t it good for Edmonton, but I think this is a possibility given the idiotic GM they have

I too think Puljujarvi may get moved, but I just choose to deny it, as I like Puljujarvi. Supposedly we may move him so we can extend Kane. Yamamoto won’t get moved at all. Everyone likes him a lot. Now, a lot of people like Puljujarvi, but you hear more hanging out with, and liking Yamamoto. I personally would like to get a good young goalie for Puljujarvi if we are going to move him, but I’m not sure if Holland wants that. I hope we keep him, but we will see.

Except Montreal's replacing someone who is playing at a 1/2 D-man level right now with a goalie they almost can't even roster and a 3rd line center they do not need. So to Montreal it doesn't make sense for cap reasons in the slightest. Montreal will likely try to accommodate Petry, but the deal has to make a certain amount of sense for them, which this does not.

I would have done that if I could. Looking at their roster, they basically had no assets worth anything that wasn’t a piece to rebuild around, aside from Pavelski. All their other non-rebuilding pieces that are solid players are on bad to terrible contracts (Benn, Seguin, Lindell, Suter)

Every single team in the league would beat that offer if Puljujarvi was available (and I'm not convinced he will be). Holland spent a lot of time and effort persuading JP to come back from Finland and rejoin the team even after Puljujarvi had left and demanded a trade, I have no idea why you'd think Holland doesn't value him.

No he isnt. he is not in the top 350 in points per game among forward despite getting just shy of 14 ES mins per night he is not meeting the bare minimum production wise to qualify as a top 9 forward.

Playing a role and being that role are two vastly different things. The data shows he has been given 3C minutes but has largely been bad in them. He is a 4C getting a 3C role and struggling with it.
