Description
Will the real Jim Benning please stand up? Space to keep the team together (extending Bo, JT, Hog, Schenn) if they wish. But also enough depth to be competitive with a Miller trade.

I gotta think COL keeps Nichushkin if that's his price.

Also I don't think PIT sells Marino if they also lose Letang.

That is terrible cap management by the Penguins, so no way that trade happens Pens sign the superior hometown Trocheck to play centre instead of trading for 5m Garland.
Pens keep long term and cheaper Marino rather than Myers. And the Pens keep Poulin.

Pens don’t do that for Marino alone, much less the added pieces. How about Miller, Woo, and a 4th for Pettersson and Zucker? How you’d honestly feel about that trade is exactly the pens feeling about this trade

Between Letang, Malkin, Rakell and Rust + a goalie... Not sure the Pens are signing any UFAs without moving out Pettersson or Zucker.

So won't the real Slim Benning please stand up
Please stand up, please stand up?

I had to, from the second I read the description. But really, Vancouver can't retain for that long

Lol! Slim Benning....

If they were fortunate to bring in a dman like Marino, who is on a solid deal, they could. In this scenario alone, they'd have 8m in cap space alone just from the 2.4m of Jake and Holtby off the books and the 5.6 space before any contracts come off the books like Dermott. From that 8m, raising miller 3.25m (8.5), Bo 1.5 (7m), Hog on a bridge up about 1.2(2m), Schenn up about 1.2m(2m) and you have room with Pearson and Lyubushkin falling off the books to address Pod and Rathbone the year after. Without Slim Benning, good things can happen

It’s exactly similar. You want the best two pieces in the deal then want the pens to add a mid round pick on top of it for a cap dump and middle 6 winger. The only difference is your cap dump is way worse than the pens “cap dump”

Miller is more talented and valued higher than Marino. Marino is steady no doubt and on a solid deal like a Tanev or Larsson but younger. Sure the RHD market makes the value higher but he's not as impactful as Miller at all... The comparison is a dog's breakfast.

Pettersson is playing protected minutes behind the likes of Matheson for a reason. Zucker isn't relied upon and I'm sure Pens fans are more excited his contract will be up soon as his health hasn't been there at all. Garland is more talented than both. Myers is better than Pettersson as well. Again he plays protected minutes and is now overpaid. Pettersson just didn't work out as expected. Maybe he will in time but hasn't. Is Myers overpaid? Yes but hence the cap retain.

Zucker > Myers, Poulin > Woo. Miller is also on a 1 year rental contract whereas Marino is signed long term.

Zucker now >>> Myers. That Myers contract sucks. Even if you retain on it. In your trade scenario the pens take on longer term cap and more cap then Vancouver in my trade scenario (9.7 million to 9.525 million) . Another reason why the pens would never do your trade scenario.

What value or use does Zucker have?? He's washed. He's the biggest cap dump even before Myers. I know Myers has a wrap but he has been relied on quite a bit this year and hasn't been bad. Cap sure, no bueno but literally Zucker has no value and Pettersson is just as overpaid as Myers with how little Pettersson brings.

But hey, you love the Pens so I get it. Don't touch Marino haha

He has plenty of value. I understand you’re a Vancouver Homer that clearly doesn’t watch any other team outside of Vancouver but claiming 1 year at 5.5 million is a bigger cap dump than 3 years at 6 million is ridiculous. Math is fun my friend. Zucker hasn’t been bad either. He’s played well and the team has played way better when he is on the ice vs when he is off it. And that’s while playing through a core muscle injury. And no MP isn’t as overpaid as Myers. Again math is fun. 4.025 million is less than 6 million. Not to mention MP hasn’t even hit his prime yet while Myers is older and just stinks. No other team is going to want to pay for your overpaid garbage and I understand that upsets you no matter how many goofy trades you delusional casucks fans make lol

It's two years. Math is fun... Lol.

Zucker at 5.5 but pace 30 some odd points even if he could finally be healthy. I bet you can hardly keep back the excitement. Next year would be further decline anyway.

4m for 3rd pair dman who plays sheltered minutes behind Matheson is overpaid no matter how you put it.

Which is still more than 1…congrats Math is fun 😁

He’s 1.) played through core muscle injury all season. Which Crosby couldn’t score trying to play through that either, so it should be no surprise that Zucker had trouble. Now 2.) add to the fact he played with bottom 6 players like ERod, Carter, Blueger, Kapanen almost all season too and still averaging almost 40 points. Next year should only get better for him not worse. But I wouldn’t expect someone who doesn’t watch hockey to know anything about other teams players.

Pettersson doesn’t play 3rd pair minutes, he plays 2nd pair minutes. Again don’t expect someone who clearly doesn’t watch hockey outside of Vancouver to know that. He typically plays with Marino who is our 2nd pair RHD. And you act like Matheson is the Matheson from 3 years ago. The guy has been lights out since becoming a penguin. I understand Vancouver doesn’t have more than 1 real top 4 defenseman but I’ll tell you it’s great knowing the pens have 5 top 4 defenseman and has at least 1 potential one coming up through the ranks.

Pens have great depth no doubt. But saying I'm a homer or don't watch hockey is funny. And you're points about Zucker and Pettersson show that's just what you are. GG mate.
