With the amount of interest in Chychrun, there’s going to be a bidding war (off-season the prices only go up cause more teams will be in on him).

This is actually a good deal for both teams - slight overpay by LA but they’re also getting an additional prospect that could explode with a change of scenery so it’s worth the little extra.

Brock Faber is not available under any circumstances.

I think LA can part with Faber with Clarke in the system. Having Clarke, Doughty, Walker, and Roy on the right side can make Faber expendable for a solid 1B/2A LHD.

Faber and Clarke are completely different types of defensemen. Faber is Roy's replacement. Clarke is Walker/Durzi's replacement. The Kings don't have another 2-way RHD in the system of Faber's caliber.

Grans, Spence, Durzi, Walker, and even Roy could be made available, but Clarke and Faber aren't going anywhere.

I think if JVR is coming at 3.5M that's a fair amount for an expiring UFA who can pot 20 goals a year. Minnestoa could potentially fit him depending on the raise for Fiala. CF has them with about 8M in space and Fiala is already making about 5M.

It's more so to have some replacement for Turcotte in their system. I also think that if he has a change of scenery he could benefit. Don't think he's going to fit in the Flyers organization going forward.

We don't need a replacement for Turcotte in the system. We're already going to have trouble finding playing time for him, with Kopitar, Danault and Byfield at center and three of Kempe, Iafallo, Moore and Grundstrom at LW, plus additional possibilities like Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Lias Andersson. And in hte system we already have Sam Fa-gem-o and Sammy Helenius and Tyler Madden, plus others. Morgan Frost would be just as redundant.

You're misunderstanding that number. That $8 million doesn't include Fiala's current $5 million. His entire next contract would come out of that money. That $8 million is the projected salary cap space with a 17 man roster assuming we let our pending RFAs and UFAs walk. We'd have 10 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 1 goalie signed with $8,183,912 to add 3-6 more players while leaving a buffer for injuries. We will be shedding salary in any trade, not adding. Even at 50% retained, JVR eats up half of our available space for next season. Fiala was reportedly asking for at least $7-8 million last offseason. Either he is moving for futures in order for us to afford the rest of the lineup or he'll have to come down off his ask and Bill Guerin will have to do a lot of work to get his contract to fit under the cap.

The Kings have a lot of good young prospects. They have some good young players to trade too.

Good young player: Sean Durzi or Jordan Spence
Top prospect: Alex Turcotte or Gabe Vilardi

The Kings can put together a number of packages that satisfy those requirements that don't include trading away Brock Faber.

If Arizona or Philadelphia insist on Faber or Clarke as part of the return for Chychrun or Provorov, then the Kings will look elsewhere.
