Description
Making a predictions (Seeing how far off I am) for next season. My Conclusion. We are in cap hell.

Of the recent TDL acquisitions (Copp, Motte, Braun) think at least one stays. With the money they way it is, and Dcorps being hefty, my money is Motte stays over "Brauny-Paper Towels"/ "Copp and Robber" . Vatrano also out due to funds.

Maybe see of those Walking who you could swap rights for a low round pick (5th if we are lucky)

Use remaining cap space on whatever RFAs in the system we deem worthy.

If Lias got us a 2nd, Kravtsov is too. If were scratching reaves ( which I think we should) trade his 1.75, forget blackwell, 1.5 and resign Copp.

Cap is 82.5M, I think we resign Copp for 2C IMO. That’s why we gave up the kings ransom for him. 4-4.5M x4-6yrs. Him and Trouba being good buddies I see him staying

My biggest fear was looking at Schneider and Lindgren needing new contracts in the same year. Love them both. But... the truth does hurt.

Remove the 4th from the Rangers if you want to have a shot at moving Nemeth.

Unless Kravtsov gets included in a bigger package deal, then they are better off just holding onto him. He doesn't have high value individually. Better to try and get him in the lineup next year to boost his stock. Going to need cheap Contracts, anyway.

It’s going to come down to letting Lindgren go or a Kreider trade at some point. Possibly both tbh

The cap is tight for the Rangers as with most teams. But signing UFAs is tough, cause they are "free" and money might talk elsewhere. Rangers don't really want to to close to the cap so they don't want any bonus carryover next year. You made a reasonable roster for next season.

Georgiev might be an option for Detroit. But he'd be sharing the net with Nedeljkovic. I don't know if Georgiev would be happy with that. The value is fair. Although Stevie could leverage it to a 4th if he knows the Rangers really want to dump Georgiev.

Stupid me drafted Willy Nylander over Kreider Bomb in fantasy hockey. Goals counted as 2 points. ☹️

If Georgey Porgey and his Kashmir Red dot sweater doesn't have a meltdown about sharing the net, I would too.

Didnt realize till after I submitted the "trade", that the salary Georgie is at is the same as Nedeljkovic. Was thinking they could battle it out for starter, and worse case if Stevie Y pulls out the fleece blanket we will send Georgie to Edmonton, Maybe Toronto, but i tend to leave the CapFriendly hornets nest alone when it comes to dealing with the Leafs.

Get the sense that we (Drury) likes Georgie enough that we arent willing to torch his career supporting BUF, ARI, SEA for a higher selection pick.

I liked Georgey ever since he punched out D'Angelo. As for CFACGM Leaf fans? Be prepared for them to offer you Mrazek back in any Georgiev trade. LOL

Neither. The cap will jump once the players repay the owners for covid in 2 years. Also we have 3.5 in buyouts coming off next year. Well be fine

Neither am I. But was something that I couldnt see signing Copp/Strome at paycuts or equal pay to make it work. NYR1983 brought up a good point after they noticed I scratched Revo, not signing Blackwell would allow for more funds for Copp back.

I signed Blackwell because of his low cost and Panarins like for him. But agreed, 2c puts us right back where we began.

This summer will be Copp's first opportunity to make some big money. Well big for him. I could see him getting 5 years/$5-5.5 mil AAV. He's a Michigan boy so he'd likely be interested in the Red Wings. Detroit does need a 2C but Copp is better suited as a 2LW/3LW in my opinion. Love his hustle. I think he'll do very well on the Rangers.

Hopefully Drury considered this before the trade was made- and knows that Copp can be extended at a deal NYR can handle...if not, this trade is a disaster- trading multiple 2nd round picks (w/ conditions for upgrade to 1st) and decent prospects (esp in a position of organization depth weakness) is poor management of assets. With this in mind, and noting the CAP for next year should be 82.5M:
1. Extend Copp at around 4.5 - 5M X 5yrs
2. Forget about Blackwell
3. For additional CAP cushion required: move Reaves, hold Kakko deal to 2.5M, and any additional required space will required will come off Motte deal. Motte would be a nice player to keep- but 4th line grinders can be picked up for less than 1.6M.

Rangers are always a huge draw for UFA's. If they make a decent offer for Copp, I could see him signing with them. I like Copp but don't really want him as much as I want a 2C. I wouldn't be disappointed if he signed with the Rangers. But I certainly wouldn't be angry if Detroit signed him. Some fans see Copp as a 2C. I don't.

What 2C would you have in mind?
Extending Copp at a reasonable contract would be a "bargain" at 2C or a 3C on the expensive side. But with Copp, you'd have a chance to continue on the Chytl experiment...all goes well, Chytl is 2C. Otherwise he remains at 3C or gets moved to wing...and there is one more year with Chytl to determine whether to commit to him going forward or move on. Partly bad luck, partly deployment, partly growing pains...but whatever the reason- would be nice to know by this point where Chytl fits in (or not).

I'm not saying Copp couldn't be a 2C on a better team like the Rangers. Just not on Detroit. I really like him as a third liner but he doesn't hurt you on the 2nd line.
