Drop retention to 1 mil and the habs should accept (cant see Hughes/Gorton accepting a 4 year retention for 3 mil when we have a lot of people getting promoted in that timespan), other than that, solid trade.

Hughes has already said he is not retaining on Petry and that isn't enough to make him change his mind. That might get you Petry Unretained though.

If Montreal where to retain 3millions on Petry deal the return would need to be lot better. Bokk havent shown any sign of progress and look like he won’t make it to the Nhl. Adding either one of Jack Drury or Honka or Morrow.

Canes don’t want Petry. I would rather keep Bear and play him with Slavin. Plus, Bear would still be cheaper than Petry with him probably making about 2.5mil next year. Also, KK is supposed to be signed to an 8x4.82mil contract after the deadline. Burakovsky would be so good in Carolina, I really hope he signs with us. You are really giving the middle finger to Nino and Necas with those lowball offers. Nino is probably willing to take a pay cut to stay with the Canes, but he won’t go that low. The lowest I think Nino goes would be 3.5x4, with a 4x4 being the most likely outcome, and Necas likely gets at the very absolute minimum, 3mil, and probably closer to 4mil.

Canes might be willing to take on Weber’s contract, assuming he never plays again, but definitely not Petry.

Habs counters with Aho for Wideman and a 7th. You are not getting a top pair dman with that much retention on his contract (with term)

Nah unfortunately for us Petry isnt worth that contract in the long term. Retaining 1M is necessary to ship him off unless we get severely underpaid.
