I agree there’s way to much going on here but the leafs are getting two long term assets here in Murphy and Hagel.

No thank you. Not interested in a defenseman who needs to start 76% (last year it was 84%!!!) of the time in the offensive zone and is too old for our timeline.

If the Leafs want Fleury, Hagel and to dump Mrazeks contract it is going to cost them a high prospect and two 1sts. If TOR still needs a defensive minded defensemen after that, Topi and a second is a small price to pay for a guy like Murphy. Honestly, I think CHI should be asking for 2 prospects and a 1st for Hagel alone. That all being said, this is hardly the Leafs "entire future". They have a prospect pool brimming with promising assets and would have Murphy and Hagel locked up for a few years at very reasonable cap hits. Not to mention, if Fleury is ok with a trade to TOR, that would mean he'd be willing to sign another year at a, most likely, very reasonable cap hit. So, although there is a lot going on here. It is far from being "too much". TOR would probably spend more doing two separate trades getting Flower and Hagel and then grabbing someone like Manson from the Ducks.

Anyway, I really only added Murphy because of their Defensive needs. But It wasn't necessary.

There. Fixed. Mrazek cap dump and a 1st for Fleury 50% retained, AND Hagel for a prospect and a 1st. I honestly would prefer we never got Jones and Murphy was our top pairing RD. But Bowman kinda boxed Murphy into a corner with his contract and acquiring Jones.

As a complete aside what would be the value of Murphy and McCabe? Both would be ideal acquisitions for the Leafs IMO

I don't know how to make sense of that for the leafs. Adding Murphy to that trade was stretch, although it did address a need for the leafs. That would be a whole crap ton of salary added to the books for them. So, whatever it is, it would not be a price the leafs could pay.

I mean Muzzin is on LTIR, if they move Kerfoot in another deal it could work. I just wanted to know what the value for the two d-men were

lol. You would essentially be getting Carpy for free there. And the NYR's would love him if he was on their roster.

Easy no from Edmonton, they don't have the cap space to bring that much in with no money going out.

No thanks. I don’t want a bad defence man that didn’t want to stay, and then talked crap to the whole fan base of Edmonton. Also, doubt he wants to come back, and you would see Seth requesting a trade real soon… Anyways, we need defence and goaltending, so Kubalik is not needed either.

Well, given that CHI is going into a rebuild and Murphy and McCabe are in their prime, I'd say a prospect like Niemela + a 2nd and a 3rd would probably get them both, plus whatever cap dumps are necessary, as long as the dumps don't have too much term left. But maybe CHI values McCabe higher than I do. I think CHI should be opening up as much roster space as possible for prospects. Murphy and McCabe are unnecessary for a rebuilding CHI team. They belong on contending teams, in my opinion. They are only going to waste their prime sticking around in CHI.

Oilers could send cap elsewhere in other trades. Not CHI's problem, unless you had some cap dumps in mind that make sense for CHI. But they have already shown interest in Kubalik, and they already know Jones who has been playing very well this season and comes cheap.

TBH thats not bad, I like McCabe better than Murphy but for the both of them that's not a bad price at all. Would Mrazek + Niemela + 3rd/2nd be enough?

That's a big old stretch for you to say. There are plenty of contending teams that would love to have Carpy. NYR's just happen to be a very obvious fit given his history with Gallant, cheap contract, and being a very useful 4th line role player, especially for a contending team. A LOT of people would disagree with your assessment of Carpenter. Carpenter ending up in NY isn't even my idea, it's been reported by a few sources to be a good fit and has been proposed here on ACGM many times by CHI and NYR fans alike.

Mrazek is a cap dump. So that would have negative value in the trade. But maybe...??? haha. I'm not a GM. I'm just a guy in an armchair.

And I didn't say he was a bad player or that a contending team wouldn't want him. Just saying that the Rangers dont need him, nothing more nothing less.

Sure. But you have too many 4th liners because they are guys that couldn't play further up in the lineup. NYR's don't have enough real hard nosed grinder 4th liners that can also win faceoffs and drive posession. Possession without goals is still more time the other team doesn't have the puck.

It's not really a problem for CHI whether they trade either of them or not. The interest and need comes from Edmonton.
