I think Dallas is a good fit for Walker . Not sure what the return would be

Given the rumors focus on Vilardi, I think this is there. Maybe add a 2nd/3rd but I assume the value is 90% of where ARI wants it to be.

Why would u keep either to play on him on the 3rd pair? I just don’t get that

I think this is the main thing holding up the Kings trading for Chychrun. Vilardi/Turcotte, 1st, those two items can get done. But the coyotes will want one young defenseman who is outperforming expectations. That's either Bjornfot or Durzi to me, and if I'm Rob Blake I'm fine with the team you have if it costs one of those guys plus so much else.

Let’s say it doesn’t cost one of those. Bjornfot is probably stuck on the 3rd pair anyways since Anderson and Chychrun will play above him. Like it really depends . But I like the make of this team and Chychrun is still young and you get Faber and Clarke soon on that right side

Bjornfot was drafted for his leadership capability, not just for his skill at hockey. The kid just exudes leadership at every level, including leading his national team as captain while being the youngest player on the team. The Kings felt that with the departure of guys like Mitchell, Williams, Clifford, Greene, etc., they lost a lot of the leadership in the room and specifically drafted this kid to remedy that for the future.

I have Bjornfot penciled in as the next captain of the Kings once Kopitar retires. I have no problem with him playing on the third pairing with the Kings for a long time.

I think it's more cost management, lack of depth at LD, and that Bjornfot is very young (20), in 2022 the Kings will have $22+M for just their top-4 if they get Chychrun. The Kings could roll with Bjornfot and Clarke with both on ELCs and maintain cap room for the rest of the team.

Optionally the team could roll with Maata (this season) or Walker (next season) in 3LD. I think the goal for Blake will be to move Walker / let Maata walk and complete the defensive pairings in the cheapest way he can for the next 2-3 years, so he can focus on landing a top-line winger.

      Potential Lines for 2022-23

Anderson (up for a new contract $3-4M)-Doughty ($11M)

      Chychrun (4 .6M) - Roy (3.15M)

Bjornfot($894K)-Durzi (Low hit on the cap) OR Clarke(ELC)

That’s a fair point. I just think Arizona is asking for a top D prospect back in the deal as well. I wouldn’t move Anderson, Clarke or Faber in the deal. Is Spence or Grans enough tho? I think we are all wondering that and that’s probably why a deal hasn’t happened yet

Apparently the sticking point is Vilardi. I don't think the Kings want to move him and apparently he's the player that Arizona is targeting.

Yeah I'm starting to lean that way too, Roy being replaced by Faber sounds great as an eventuality

I mean don't get me wrong your proposed team above still has space to improve the top-6. But I think the team moves on from Edler with how long his injury has kept him out.

Yeah. The top 6 can be improved but I don’t want to sign 7+ mill contract cuz the cap space will be gone quickly to re-sign your future RFas

I think that's why the Kings look at short deals for improving the top-6 until more players graduate. Reuniting Pavelski with his old coach isn't out of the question.

      L1: Kempe-Kopitar-Pavelski / L2: Iafallo, Danault, Arvidsson

Not saying it happens, just maybe something like it.

I don’t blame Blake holding off for a bit. But Vilardi or turcotte will be gone and that stings a bit but it’s a business and it will be a good hockey trade

Yeah but at least you’ll be getting a 23 year old stud Dman on a good contract . It would sting more if he traded one of them for a 28-29 year old with 2 years left on his deal

Not for chychrun. Vilardi or Turcotte will have to be in the deal.

Quick is definitely not getting traded.

That’s not a bad trade at all though imo.

      Grans or Spence

I could see Dallas being interested depending on the price.

Kings aren't going to include one of their two NHL LDs for Chychrun. That's upgrading, not adding.

The trade proposed by @tkecanuck341 is fine, and fair value: First-round draft pick, Turcotte, Spence or Grans, Maatta.
