Luke Schenn has been elite defensively this year and he is signed for this year and next year for under 1 million dollars. He is better then Chiarot and Chiarot is expected to get a 1st round pick in return for him.

With such a meager trade for Severson, why arent the Leafs just going after him rather than a depth option like Schenn?

Severson costs way more money. I have the Canucks trading a potential top 4 d man in Jurmo, a solid bottom 6 foward in Dickinson and 2 3rd round picks.

Dickinson isn't worth anything. He's a 4th liner in Vancouver who was just signed to term at a high amount for what he brings. He's basically a cap dump. 2 3rd round picks aren't anything. The only thing you gave up for your new top pairing RHD with term was a prospect. Not even a top prospect either, he'd be 4-5th down the list in Vancouver who don't have a strong pool to start with. So again why wouldn't the Leafs just give up more value , and keep in mind this is substantially less than most Leafs trades for Severson to start with on here, for a much better defenseman than Schenn?

better than ben chariot is a really really low bar, and schenn has been an ok bottom pairing defender he has not been elite by any standards.
and just because some dumb gm is going to over pay ben chariot because he cross checks doesnt mean that schenn is going to get a dumb over payment too. Unless you wanna trade Holl for Miller

I like that Luke Schenn essentially in this scenario is more valuable than Damon Severson

With all do respect, Vancouver is not really thriving under the entirety that is the season 2021-22.
They are playing well of late, sure (but still only 1-game over .500 in their last 10).
But frankly the latest run is just moving the deck chairs on the Lottery Titanic (ie: from #2-4 pick under Jimbo 1.0 to pick #12-13-ish under Jimbo 2.0)...

He's been injured for one.
He has not played well otherwise, you are correct (he's dump-chase/BOS is possession)
He doesn't waive however (he wants silverware).

All that said - BOS does not table that offer as mentioned above (FA-reason) & a 1/2 LD is needed not 7-8 RD...

My main advice would just be to try to kinda gather a median for player value on this site, and use that towards your trades.

Sometimes people on here can be quite harsh, myself included, so it’s always best to make sure your trades aren’t totally lopsided if you don’t want some pretty mean comments.

Schenn and elite haven't been in the same sentence since his draft day. People stopped calling him elite after his first game.

Cost for Severson is two good prospects and 1st (Muzzin comp).
So, change the picks to 1st
Change Dickinson to Rathbone, Klimovich, etc

I don't like the Muzzin comp, I wouldn't give up more than a 1st rounder by itself or a 2nd and a good prospect for Severson considering he's on an expiring contract next season

As was Muzzin. And look what the market has been doing with RD (Jones, Risto, Savard). All going for higher than expected.
