So basically Philly has said we'll take Ritchie and give you Brassard but you need to add a 1st, doesn;t necessarily translate into Philly wanting Ritchie.

Philly has cap space and would take ritchie but not at value....if that was the case Philly would have taken him off waivers for free, because they had the cap then.

I could see a Braun at 50% for Ritchie and Toronto 2nd kind of deal, but no way does Philly give up actual assets for Ritchie alone

It's about the contract slots. They are not infinite and Philly is close to maxed out.

Well yes lol, but Risto was still in the NHL when the flyers acquired him.

I don't think it's as difficult to get rid of contracts as you might think. Flyers could simply just trade random AHL dudes to Arizona for future considerations. They wouldn't acquire a bad contract just to free up a few spots...

Yeah, but they gave up really good assets for him, they'd probably give up late picks for Ritchie

Arizona doesn't have the money to take on a bunch of contracts. If it's that easy to dump contracts then Ritchie won't be hard to move.

I would give it 3 games of Leaf fans watching Schenn be an absolute liability before they turned on him. At best he'd be a good injury replacement deeper in the playoffs. He's slow, can't handle the puck and he would be such a weakness in the system that prioritizes possession that people would lose it fast. Teams would try to isolate him constantly and his partner would be left with all the puck moving which would hurt Sandin as well. Schenn is not a starter on a good team.

It's easy to dump AHL contracts that only pay out like 500k... I never said it was easy to move contacts that pay dudes 3mill. I think a team like Arizona or Montreal would be more than happy to acquired AHL money if they could get like a 4th or 5th. To take on Ritchie for this season and next at 3mill makes no sense for the flyers.

Doesn't matter we aren't taking on a bad contract for an asset. Why would we trade for Ritchie when we could just trade Brassard for an asset

It’s 2.5 So i don’t know where 3 came from, also Ritchie could be bought out next season for 300k

Not correct, the cap buyout is 300k, I am pretty sure the team still pays half the remaining salary

I can't see that being enough incentive for Winnipeg to downgrade from DeMelo to Holl.

It's 3.3 in actual money with a 2.5 cap hit next szn for Ritchie. I'm not sure why you think a team would acquire a 300K buyout penalty to gain one contract spot as your trade suggests... If Philly wanted they could just ship off Linus Sandin for free to a random team for future considerations.

I'm sure if the Leafs threw in a 1st or prospect, depending on if the prospect was someone Winnipeg needed, that the Jets would be interested.
