That Minnesota trade is horrible. For a 3rd they give up the guy 7 years younger, signed cheaper, who is better. That 3 isn't a 1 + Guerin hangs up on you and blocks Hughes number

I don’t see minny or LA doing that. Calgary probably doesn’t either due to Coronato.

No. Minnesota isn't trading a younger, better player and contract in dumba for jeff petry and his contract. Also dumba most likely isn't going anywhere after being named alternate captain, and the quote that our gm said after

Minnesota declines, quite easily too, I'm afraid. Petry is much worse than Dumba, if Dumba is moved Addison is getting 2RD spot and most importantly, Petry still 3 years after this one left on his deal at an even higher caphit than Dumba, which is exactly what Minnesota can't have coming on the books with 14M in dead coming next year.

Oh, and Dumba has an A on his sweater now, meaning this is even less plausible

In other words, find another sucker

Calgary, Los Angeles and Minnesota all say No. With regard to the Kings, Gallagher is a third-line player for us, so we wouldn't be giving up Gabe Vilardi for him. Chromiak and the second is just barely conceivable.

Matt Dumba has 20 points in 39 games. Jeff Petry has... six... Jeff Petry also makes more money...

No. It's not fair value. It's not even close...

Why would Minnesota move a young Matt Dumba? for an aging jeff Petry having his worst season ever. Why would Petry even waive for Minnesota anyways. He's already said that he wants to be as close to Detroit as possible and sorry Minnesota isn't it. Columbus or Pittsburgh makes more sense.

No thank you. Hoffman continues his trend of mostly producing on the PP. He has 5 even strength points, that's worse than Derek Ryan on the Oilers. We have no room or need for him on our PP, he would be absolutely worthless to us.

We would want Toffoli.

Hoffman is what he always has been. A player that needs to be sheltered at even strength and will get half his points on the power play.
Ducharme did not understand this, which is part of why his production is down and he's only shooting 9%. Use him properly and he can still be effective.

Edmonton fans seem determined to get rid of Barrie. I can't disagree because Edmonton's current lineup doesn't allow him to be used effectively either. He's very similar to Hoffman, in that he requires sheltering, but he's even more dependent on the power play for production.
It's much easier to shelter a winger PP specialist than a defenseman. That alone is enough reason to consider this trade. Replace Barrie with someone who can be relied on at 5v5 afterwards.

It makes sense and is probably an improvement from a lateral move, but the significant improvement comes from who you put in Barrie's place.
