Montreal trade seems fair value to me. But that Columbus trade... I just don't think they'd trade Laine for so little, especially because Tolvanen hasn't progressed this season. I would think replacing him with Jeannot gets you closer to fair value, but I doubt Nashville would be interested in that

MTL trade is a BIG overpay by NSH. No chance NSH is packaging Carrier with a 1st for Savard and Allen. Just a brutal trade. I honestly can't even get my mind around that deal...

And when it comes to trading for a guy like Laine, I'm just not sure it fits. He's going to command at least $8m long-term. And if NSH plans on re-signing Forsberg as well, do they want so many $8m+ players on the team? The whole idea this off-season was to get younger, cheaper, faster, and tougher. Laine is still young, but I think his contract is just going to be to much for NSH. As a Forsberg replacement? Sure. But then it also depends on whether Poile wants to trade a guy he just traded up for in the draft to get-- I can't see him being too likely to move L'Heureux right now. And Tolvanen's contract is just so good that I don't see any reason to trade him. He's not producing points right now, but if you actually watch him play he is playing very solid hockey.

Agree with all of this, and would just add that I'm not so sure Laine would be a great fit under Hynes. I could see him constantly being in the coach's doghouse.

That MTL proposal is brutal. It would supplant the Girard+ for Turris trade as the worst in Preds history.

That Montreal trade is disgusting. Allen isn’t good and Savard has been bad as well. Giving up a 1st and a good young rhd that still has upside for that garbage is a nonstarter.

Knee jerk reaction but this would set Nashville back.

Allen’s been around .905 for 4 of the last 5 seasons. We could get that in the off-season for free or take a swing and let Ingram have a go at it as backup.

Savard didn’t look great in Tampa and looks worse in Montreal. He was regressing in Columbus before going to Tampa as well

I just don’t see any part of that trade that is worth carrier or a 1st. Paquette could probe had for a pack of bubble gum.

This feels more like a step back than window extended. That Montreal proposal is horrible. None of those players help Nashville at all. As I said before Toffoli is probably the only habs player I would be interested in.
